During the 10 day period of rifle season when you can't drive down 2 tracks (that are not open to vehicle traffic), before 10:00am and after 2:00pm do you pull your traps or set them off. I know last year I had a heck of a time running my line, in the 4 hours allowed. Even tho I set it up so I would run my land line one day and my water line the next.
Don't know how you guys in the LP, can do it on a 24 hour check, and running a combination line.

When I ran combo lines I always pulled everything 11/14 and reset 12/1 regardless of State or private ground. Too many prying eyes, sticky fingers, & loose lips. I do the same with my coyote lines as well.

Its not worth doing any trapping at that time.Michigan sells between 500,000 and 700,000+ deer licenses every year.It does get livable the 2nd week of season,at least in my neck of the woods here. But I still don't think its worth it.I've seen comments from guys in other states that say the heck with the hunters, they're trapping anyway. They're not trapping in a state like Michigan.

I believe that is what I'm going to do this season, I know last year I got tired of waiting at the end of a road until 10:00, before I would go down the 2 track. It was a real pain in the backside, especially when I had to walk back a great distance to check my water line.
Just scouting in the last couple of weeks, I've never seen so many deer stands, so far back in the woods as I have this year.

You didn't say whether they were predator or water traps,no way would I let anything caught set out all day and try to collect them at night

I am in the lower and I run just like any other day. I believe the law reads no orvs during those hours. Don't matter much anyway because everyone from down here is going up to you for rifle season because we can't bait and we don't have as many casinos.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Agreed with what was said above, I would not have a trap on public property during regular fireman deer season in Michigan. I will reset traps on private property after the first week of the season depending on how much hunting is going on that specific property.

I trap around Seney. I don’t trap on public land during gun season. Too many people in the woods.

I have no idea where in Michigan you are,in relation to how many deer hunters you have per square mile, but if its anything like around here, drags aren't going to save ya

I was up there 3 or 4 years ago trapping I saw more wolf sign than coyote.

This isn't about hiding your catch, or using drags. This is about having 4 hrs per day to run your line. for over 10 days, if you are running a line that you use non-vehicle approved 2 tracks. In one area it takes me longer than 4 hours just to walk around the ponds, checking water traps.
Guess it makes no different, I'm pulling on the 14th anyway and will reset.
D550, lots of wolves, sometime surprised we have yotes.

My apology Mr. Garant, I should have been more specific, from Nov 15th to Nov 30th, rifle season.
