Don't shoot the dog....don't shoot the guy next to you and don't shoot the blockers at the end of the field. Oh and don't shoot the brown ones.

Hundreds ? And no dogs ? How long ago was that ?

Shot my first one when I was 11 Stevens .410 single shot full choke. I'm 51 now. Guess that's over the last 40 years. In the 1980's I shot hundreds, all though some were with a 20ga. I shot my 3 bird limit very often between 330 and 430 after school.

I've had a lot of .410's in that time, bolt actions and single shots mostly, one SxS,,, but my wife bought me an O/U that is pretty sweet.

My parents owned a small motel when I was in my teens. Hunters came from everywhere to hunt pheasants in our area. I helped a lot of them find birds when they asked.

People that have never seen a huge flush of birds would never believe it if you told them the amount of birds that would flush at one time. Then before those landed another huge flush would be coming up after that.

20 years ago when the fields were picked and winter set in the birds concentrated in huge numbers in the creek bottoms and CRP places. It was something to see.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Yes they were thick here too. You could see near 1000 of them in one CRP field after the snows. You could figure on about 7 out of 10 times when you stepped off the road to set a trap one or more would flush under your feet, scaring the crap out of you.

got out this afternoon
it looked like rain all day but it stopped raining about noon and had actually dried out fairly well by 2 when we got out

we saw a 10+ birds I sort of lost count

it was a very good day , came home with 3 birds

and left a tail less one named lucky still flying away after flushing him 3 times and chasing him down a field . I blew the tail off on my first shot we flushed
but it flew onto private land

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
