I have an old boy scout knife labeled as a "whittler." I don't know if they're still made or not.

Here ya go. The crooked knife is made mostly for carving spoons and bowls with its bent tip. The shape of the handle is so that you can put your thumb on the crooked part for a better purchase.

I'm not sure if I whittle or just make naked sticks. The last part of this past summer, I used an Uncle Henry locking single blade folding knife. Helps me practice my sharpening skills, too.

Crooked knives originally were a trade item of the HBC.
native people prized them for making everything from snowshoes to canoe ribs.
They are the most versatile knife in the bush-they are used to whittle, plane, and carve.
