As some of you know I’ve been testing the new aluminum Victor OOS traps with some new springs that I had made. After a few weeks of testing things are looking very promising. The trap frames are holding up great. The springs on these traps are very strong. I have designed and manufactured a working prototype of a fixture that allows the removal and replacement of these springs on the trap frames. So what I’ve been doing is removing the lightweight spring and adding the new spring. In the near future I might gage interested, and if there is enough interested, run a handful of these tools. Here are a few pics of my working prototype and a cad pic of the final product.

Sounds like you are onto something. I hope you market it. I haven't tried the new OOS, but if they screwed them up like they did with the traditional vertical plunger spike style trap, then I hope you proceed with your fix. Victor leaves me shaking my head.

Well exactly one person has shown some interest. Seems like there were way more people than ONE complaining about the new traps LOL

I think there may be more of a market for a modified trap rather than the tool to put bigger springs on.

My theory was that if you had the tool, springs, and replacement pins you could modify the new ones or give new life to older traps that have lost their spring power over the years. I’m not interested in modifying the traps and selling them. That’s too big of a liability.

I suspect liability is why Victor has reduced the quality of their mole traps

Yep, too many lawyers and not enough common sense.

I love the idea. And have a few dozen aluminum ones I’d like to see this done to but I bought the whacker trap and really like it.
