I see where Groney is buying furs in Canada.... Old news. They started buying fur in Canada the year NAFA closed down. Even hired some of NAFA’s best wild fur people.

"Stable price level at Saga Furs´ auction 16.12.2021 Saga Furs´ December auction concluded today. Almost 80 buyers participated in the online auction. The purchases of mink, fox and Finnraccoon pelts were to Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Greece, and western fashion industry. On the other hand, purchases of the company´s main market China remained low. Of the 840,000 mink pelts on offer more than a fifth were sold. In total 210,000 fox skins were offered and half of them were sold. The offering of 20,000 Finnraccoon pelts was 100% sold.
The current covid situation in main markets clearly affected the demand of velvet types offered in this sale. The decision was made to protect the market and keep price levels firm to previous auction. However, Brown classic males reached more than 75% clearance.
Farmed Sable sale was also very positive and was 2/3 sold with increasing prices."

All points of the value chain are being verified by a third-party auditor. In addition, the value chain can be opened up from auction to consumer through ChainPoint’s blockchain system. With the newly launched SagaTrac RFID system you can trace the pelts all the way to the individual farms and country of origin. For Boco. Big Money! You would be proud. The tags say" Furmark Sustainable Natural Fur" for farmed fur. Natural definition: . as found in nature and not involving anything made or done by people:

Marten is looking good this year too. "My marten average was $45 ($35 U.S.), lynx $65, fox $15. Sold to GFW for cash"Not if you sold to Groeny.

Whats a country buyer?
I mean “country buyer” sounds like a category or large group. Anyone other than a auction house buying fur in the US.

They are talking a $45 CDN dollar average plus this is for the larger marten you get up North like in the James Bay lowlands. It would put are marten at a $35 to $30 dollar CDN average. same as last years prices on marten and our dollar is 5% better than last year

When you really think about it, you have to wonder how Groeny can buy at auction, pay the buyers fee and resell at a profit when the auction companies can't get you the price Groenys selling at.
Seems like the auction companies have some work to do.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Groeny has to pay more at the auction than he does to trappers when he cant get enough from trappers.Since there is low demand for coon he doesnt have any if much competition for the lower end goods. When groeny buys at the auction he is no different than any other broker that buys there. A lot of manufacturers use brokers to buy their fur at the auction.
I remember back in the 90's there was a Satans Choice biker at the convention in North Bay-He was a fur buyer for Paula Lishman who started the knit fur craze.
You'd be surprized at some of the middle men that buy and sell at the auction.

A 45 dollar marten is a lot better than a 5 dollar coon. Im not so sure about that.Depends how you look at it.Some guys down here can catch 50 or more coons a day, thats day after day. How many martin can be caught day after day. Depends on the math, and expenses involved.

You'd be surprized at some of the middle men that buy and sell at the auction. Most of the brokers at fur auctions buy for their customers on a 3% commission, why would anyone think Groenewold's do anything different?

Maybe it is me, but I don't think you would need a broker for an online Auction. Maybe you still do?

Maybe it is me, but I don't think you would need a broker for an online Auction. Maybe you still do? Online auctions have not been around for many sales. At FHA I still use a Canadian broker that goes and grades the fur touches it, looks at it first hand. Been doing this for a while and don't trust pictures as much as someone holding it in their hand and looking at it. To much money involved to buy from a picture. When other buyers can go look at the fur themselves (and after this Covid deal) the auctions will almost certainly improve.
