Had both knees replaced. Right knee did not turn out 6 years ago.
Scar tissue got me. No fault with DR or the metal Knee. Even with 4 months of therapy only ended up with 100 degrees range of motion. Left hospital on pain pills and still on them 6 years later.knee pain 24/7 now. Not going to get better DR says.
So the question is any you coyote trappers have any idea on how to make 6 dirt hole sets for coyotes ? Only want to run 6 traps. I can get around walking a little from the truck but don’t know how I am going to get down and bury and cover the trap ? I guess use a bucket to set on ? Your thoughts besides besides hanging up trapping at age 62. Thanks. MD

It doesn't specifically answer your question, but it might be easier to use flat sets instead of digging dirt holes. Don't rule out setting 6 snares (if legal) instead, as that would probably be easier than bedding a foothold.

Flats sets might be the ticket. I never thought of that. I never used a flat set but might just work. I spent most of my trapping time in ILL so i could not use snares. But always wanted to learn. Now i live in Iowa so that might be the thing for me. Thanks for the tips. MD

I had double knee replacement December 2018. Beaver trapped that spring 2019.
Canine trapped last season '20-'21.

I always made canine sets while on my knees, with knee pads.
That changed with knee surgery. Doc said no being on my knees.

I now stand, with legs spread to make sets. I use a tile spade to cut out trap bed and broken shovel handle to pound in dirt hole. Sometimes I use a auger on cordless drill, but wooden shovel handle is lighter to carry and does the job.

I worried about lower back pane while standing & bending, but pain didn't occur. So I'm good to go.

I am in bad shape. 6 years ago right knee did not turn out. Even with 4 months of therapy. Scar tissue got me bad. I am constant pain. 24/7 pain. Take a lot of pills. Now 6 years later my pills not working. Left knee turned out better but it’s hurting now because right knee turned out so bad. Right knee the worse one only ended up with 90 degree motion. I ride a scooter at work , MFG Manager. I need 3 more years before I can retire. Don’t see how I will make It. I have given up on the trapping. Just to Much pain. MD

I would think that'd cause lower back pain. I'm glad it works well for you. Maybe you have a strong core.
