So I was scouting today for our season opener this coming Monday seen 2 big otters on the river My question is .
Is it worth setting the place I saw then with only being able to have traps out for 13 days or since otters are very nomadic set upstream and downstream

I would set on that sign as well as setting a dozen other spots. They could be hanging around that area for a particular reason (pool of fish) but they could also be miles away tomorrow. They might even cycle back through that area again during the 13 days.

SOS. Set On Sign. That said, were they just swimming, or on the bank? They tend to leave quite a bit of sign on regular haul-outs. And typically, every otter that passes uses the same spots.

Just doing what I want now.

If you saw them, in the water or otherwise, they’re in their territory and it’s worth setting there.

Wait now. Careful with 750 traps on the bank. If they were on the bank, see if you can see where they like to get in and out of the water. A 1.75 trap is fantastic for otter on land and won’t cause a problem with people and other animals.

I should have explained better the 750s will be at the bottom of the slide where they look to have been going in and out of the water

If there's a toilet above the slides, make a gawdy dirthole in the immediate area of the toilet using a foothold. Make sure the trap is staked down well. They can't help but investigate a gawdy dirthole in their toilet area.

Hey Paul, what do you like to throw down in the dirthole? I've used your Backbreaker and lenons otter all call with great success.
