Has anyone ever used wire cubby’s for mink instead of wood boxes
I go to some wire panels with 1” holes and was thinking about making some and was curious if anybody had any experience with it

I'm sure a wire cubby will work as good as a wooden one. Place some grass or leaves over It to blend It in and give It a try.

But my experience with mink cubbies has not been all that positive when it comes to putting up any numbers. Sure you will catch a mink or two but It's not all that effective In my option.

A few years ago I had a few 5×5 colony traps needing repair. I wired one door shut, cut the other door off and cut slots for a BMI 110. I baited it with muskrat and set it in a frozen cattail marsh. Sure enough after a fresh snow I saw mink tracks going up to it, walking around it, pooped, and left without entering. I kept it out there for two more weeks and caught one really big weasel. Anyway, thru the years I have tried variations of this setup usually using plastic mail boxes. I've caught a few mink but nothing to get excited about.
