Are they still using fake fur on their trapper hat? That turned me off to them when I found that out and mine has been collecting dust ever since.

Couple years ago I was at an outdoor writer's conference in northern Wisconsin, not too far from where the Stormy Kromer factory is located. The woman who's the CEO of Stormy Kromer (she's in the original family of the company owners for 100 years) came and gave a 15 minute history about the company and then put a bunch of the hats out on a table and told us to pick out the one we want.

I have to say I have fallen in love with the hat. I should wear it more, but it feels like a collector's item to me!

I really like mine, it gets worn all winter here. I am a little further south than you guys though.

When duck hunting I will always be found with a Kromers or my old, dirty, smelly, goose-bloody Filson oiled canvas hat on. I like both of them because the bills on them are not so long they get in the way of my eyes when shooting like baseball caps do.

Stormy Kromer hats rock.

Love mine. Wouldn't want to be without it in the winter. Still gotta have something to cover your ears with though. I use a pair of otter fur earmuffs.

Do you have to buy a size larger? Wool shrinks when it gets wet

Definitely doesn't work on bitter cold windy days for sure. Got lots of stocking hats for those days.

I wear a Kormer rancher hat all winter here in North Dakota. It is certainly my preferred hat for the winter. Time to dig it out now that we have snow on the ground and winter is setting in. I have the other style Kormer hats as well but not warm enough for me during our winters. Reminds I should get another rancher hat since mine is 15 years old and the brim is cracked.

when a hat has 25 dollars in very soft wool and hours of the wife's time , you make sure not to miss place your custom size hat
