It has been a pretty good week in my neck of the woods. The boys and I have a short hit list of older bucks, some that we have several years of history chasing. In the last week, we have taken the top two on this years list. I noticed that some other threads had been started about bucks in other states so I thought I would throw another state in the mix. NC is not known for the big bruisers like the mid-west and western states but we do grow a few decent ones if we let them have some birthdays.

Last Tuesday morning, my oldest son took #2 on the hit list that we believe to be 4 1/2. 11 scorable points but one broken off in the week since the last picture.

Yesterday evening, I managed to get #1. We know this one is at least 5 1/2 and have lots of pictures of him over the years and he has been a worthy target for the last couple of years. He has a habit of showing up on our trail cams early and then disappears. Last year he disappeared in late Sept. but he hung around until Oct 21 this year. But yesterday, he made the mistake of chasing the does where I was waiting. Bang, Flop! No tracking required.

A main frame heavy eight with to trash points on this forehead between his main beams.

Great bucks! Good job, guys!

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Awesome Harold!! Those are some NC studs. We have the capability to grow them big here, just makes it hard when they walk across the property line and get popped when they are 2 1/2. I usually kill a doe or two each year but my dad stays after the bucks. Here are some of ours

Another one fell this evening. Not the boss of the woods but a respectable buck with a split G2 on one side. Before and after pics.....
