I will be making some dryland mink sets both blind and pockets with footholds. Which is a better choice: anchoring solid with very little movement allowed or wired to a drag? The area I trap is a frozen swamp so there is no way the set is close to open water for drowning.

I like to use drags as much as i can, especially on blind sets and other sets you wouldnt want destroyed by any nontarget catch like coon or possums. Just remember to stake or use a drag that will handle the biggest thing that can come through the area.

Any footholds i set for mink here i have to anchor the crap out of them to hold all the incidental coon that blunder into sets.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

You'll have to anchor solidly enough to hold raccoons or coyote or use big enough drags that they dont go too far or up a tree.

I'd use a clog.Doesnt take a very big stick to make a clog for mink.
