FriarTuck trapper Joined: Dec 2011 Baudette MN	I have good luck with footholds in a natural cubby. Find a good cedar that has fallen over and the roots make a sort of cave. If that is where cat tracks are, or where it has produced over the years. Throw a half of a beaver carcass in, with a couple 550s or 3Ns guarding it. It seems much more weatherproof and works great for me. I also like a good box with a 220 or 160 belisle. Jim

I have caught a bobcat in a 120 box set for mink, 3 in 155s boxes, several in 160 and 220 boxes, set for cats. Probably almost as many in both bodygrip/leghold, snare. My only quess is that the boxes tend to hold up to any melt thaw, and a fair amount of snow. Probably the biggest things that helps me is that I drive through my trapping area at least a couple times a week all year, so I have a good idea of where they hang out.

I have tried them but to no luck. I have seen where some set them at angles so the front is higher than the back, That I havent tried how do you set yours if you dont mind me asking. Yes they are pretty much weather proof that is why I ask.

FriarTuck trapper Joined: Dec 2011 Baudette MN	I build the boxes with a good taper in them so that they stack inside one another well, and that makes them so that you can see inside them from a higher angle also.

The deciding factor in MN is the check law. Footholds, snares and cages all have a 24 hr check, where body grips are on a three day check. You get more refusals with body grip cubbies, but far more efficient in the long run than daily checks on the others.
