Well the office is officially open Got out and broke trail. Had to take a Motrin when I got home. Bouncy and bumpy as heck!!! Always love the fresh powder though I picked up 2 newer sleds this year. The one is still in the shop getting serviced and new skis put on it. Should be out in a week or two. I picked this little gem up from a guy in Anchorage. His father had bought it brand new in 1989 with the intent of trapping. Well I guess things didnt go his way and it sat in his shop till this past week. Less the 200 miles on it I told the wife I was getting it for her, but it is my back up sled Runs like a champ! I run about 8 bait stations and always top them off at the end of the season. My thoughts are that the ones that survived will find it and they will bring their pups there in the summer for fur and bones. I took two bags of bait in with me today and rolled up to this...... Looked like fox and yote were poking around I had to set it Other then that didn't see much for track but that is kinda normal after a big dump of snow like what we got. Hanging snares tomorrow! Be safe!

WH- wait till you see the other one crosspatch that is the plan Finished putting in snare lines and bait stations today. Should have been done yesterday but some knuckle head had went through a portion of my line and cut a bunch of my snares. Pretty sure it was a moose hunter, they have a camp that sits center along the river. Only about 2 dozen snares and I was going to change them out this year anyhow. Is what it is. I put in a bait station last night and rolled up on my first yote of the year this morning Not seeing much of bunny sign, not like last year anyhow. Be safe out there guys!

Just got in from a deer hunt that took a few days longer then planned due to crappy weather. Was a awesome hunt, good company, 4 vets hanging out together is always a good time I got to watch my buddy get a nice buck and was the high light of my trip. We ended up getting 7 deer, I got 4 One of the biggest draws for me and this hunt is the scenery and the serenity. Started out with about 6 inches of snow and left there with it being above my knee. The last day I had a huge buck come in and stand there and watch me before I realized he was there. He will be bigger next year The freezer is full and it is time to get busy getting gear out Be safe out there!

Nice! Between work and the kids not taking care of business I haven't gotten much drive to get out since grousing, but I sure enjoy seeing other peoples' pictures and reading their stories. If this week goes smooth maybe we can start some bait piles this weekend.
Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

Pretty good run today. 1 lynx, 1 marten, 1 cross, 2 reds, and 3 yotes. They wiped out 3 bait stations and at one for the life of me I can not see how they missed hitting a snare! Got them re baited and starting to put more gear out in the am. Picked this up from the shop today Exactly 198 miles on it Just waiting for some real snow! Be safe out there and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I think you got enough snow machine for me too :-) Congrats. I am especially jealous of the Lynx and Cross. I think you got more critters caught there than actually live on my entire trapline! Fun to go from one thing and wade right into the next. I can tell you're busy. No time to tell stories properly like you sometimes do :-) Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the kind words guys Was going to head out today but decided to do some prep work. K9 sets tomorrow then marten mink and otter the following day. That is my plan anyhow. martentrapper, picked the 503 Cheyenne and a trailer up for 3k. It only had 839 miles on it. The guys dad bought it brand new with the intent to trap but it ended up sitting in his shop till he passed. The Freeride 550 only has 198 miles on it, the gentleman that owned it rode it one winter, he is 72. Paid 5k for it then dropped another k getting new wider skis, serviced, new belts, and tow hitch. I gotta run fan cooled sleds down here, the weather swings are pretty wild and liquid cooled sleds dont cut it. I looked real hard at some of the brand spanking new sleds and just couldn't justify it. Paid less for 2 then what I would have paid for 1 Aint running that Freeride till we get more snow down here, my trail is pretty hard on tracks and sleds in general until we get at least a foot of powder.

Well got out this am and got some steel in the ground for the fox and yotes. Was able to actually put in some snow holes this year for as cold as it is, and of course a few haysets Checked some gear and picked up a nice lynx and yote. Ted’s Meowch struck again Got this joker on the bait station were they missed all the freaking snares. Knew it was just a matter of time. Got a bunch of skinning to get done then headed back out in the am to get gear out for marten mink and otter. Be safe out there!
