I got a Ketch-All last year when I needed one quick after my old one broke. Been pretty nice so far, even eliminates the need for a .22 in some cases.

What length Ketch-all is the preferred choice? Is a 5 ft one better to have than a 4 ft?

I just got a death ray this year and I don't plan on ever going back to anything else now that I have used it. I started with the pvc style with clothes line tensioner then went to a ketch-all now the death ray.

It's really hard to catch up to a coyote with any kind of catch pole when It's In 7' CR.

I use my death rays for everything but I still carry a .22 for those coyotes who are a little too toe caught.

I have a homemade one I made out of PVC pipe, clothes line tensioner, and some cable. I’ve had it for 10 years, and have used it on everything from ringtails, to mountain lions. The only thing I’ve had to replace is the tensioner. They seem to last about 3 years before the need to be replaced.

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

I have a 5 foot Katch All in my truck always. Best money I ever spent for trapping. I had a homemade till a pit bull bent it like a pretzel . My death ray is reserved for dispatch, if I would have bought the longer version it would do for both.

I like one of those 4' hog catchers. One simple moving rod nothing to go wrong and replacing the cable Is no big deal. And they only cost around $30.00

I have a 5 foot ketchall. Not as nice to carry on a fourwheeler or snowmachine as a shorter one, but then I am mainly carrying it for cougar release and want the longer pole. I haven't used it on a cougar since I bought it, so can't tell you how it works on them, have used it on a couple smaller critters and it worked good. If you are trapping strictly out of a pickup I would recommend the long one, if you are using an atv or snowmachine, you decide whether you want the headache of packing a longer one or if smaller more convenient to carry one will suffice. Probably depend on what you plan on releasing. I used to just use a forked stick or whatever was handy on smaller critters and it worked fine. But then I don't get a lot of animals in traps that I have to release, otter have a quota and fisher are protected, but both are usually always dead when I get one incidental.
