If it turned off the switch I would move of somewhere else imo.
I use them but differently to draw but they know where the pit is.

9 coyotes in 4 days at 1 location - consider that a very good harvest site. Some may show up in January but you took a large percentage of a family group or two. If I get 4-5 from a feedlot dead pile I consider that very good. Unfortunately the ones I get in those places have a higher percentage of mange as "it is easier to make a living" (and spread disease) when your needs are met in a smaller home range........................... the mike

If it’s a established pit there will be coyotes come to it from 15 miles. If it’s new swamp nailed it. The cold front that moved in last night should help you out. Good luck

If it's a ranch dead pit that only gets use once in awhile (not regular dump like in a feed lot) I could see the increased human activity along with the dead coyotes could through up a caution flag. Move back a quarter mile and trap them coming to it.

I’ve had dead coyote skinned and un skinned dug up and pulled out of my compost pile in years past . I would not think that has as much affect as you removing the locals .

I would move them a bit to the direction they are not coming from to draw birds,,,but hey for us we do not have the coyote population you guys got. There is a reason you can catch 250 to 500 coyotes in a month ,,, there is alot of coyotes to catch ...

I don’t want peeled dead coyotes ANYWHERE near where I want to keep killing coyotes.

There’s times a dead coyote is somewhat of a draw (not fur season), but never peeled ones in my experience.

I missed what you asked. I thought you had 20 dead cattle in a pit. The answer is no I would not put carcasses where I was trapping.

I always dumped my skinned animals away from an established pit or feed lot dump area. There are usually better places to put them out for another attraction site. If you are there for a couple weeks those new skinned carcass dump sites can produce for you over the longer stay. I don't want to give approaching coyotes anything new to become suspicious of. They can be on guard enough by them selves as a rule. Just the way I roll after all my years.

If you read alot. You will find that lots of the old time Wolfers skinned on the line. And put carcasses up wind This was a different time The old Wolfers used every part of the coyotes To catch more coyotes

I have a coyote pile that draws coyotes in quite often; however, I also have beaver and deer carcasses there.

I have several spots along my line where I skin as I go along. Carcasses are left at those spots and the birds will have them cleaned up within 3 days. I have sets within 50 yards of each and will catch coyotes in those sets. I would assume that the coyotes are alerted, but not all of them enough to not work a set. About half of those closer sets are flat sets. I really don’t think those carcasses added to the dead pit would affect how many coyotes come to it. If you have lots of coyotes, competition for food is also a big factor.
