Any like one over other.I use parsnip or carrot don’t know if one is better than other.Seems like some nights there hungry others not.

Apple parsnip carrot. I heard a guy using a piece of cut up bleach jug. Said all it has to be is white and he caught them. Not sure if he gave it a squirt of lure. I do with the apples

Well apples go bad and turn brown when you cut them '. I used parsnips because they keep there color and stay hard.
My buddy Larry Meyer just wraps some WHITE duct tape around the triggers. In my opinion It's all about eye appeal. And I have used pieces of that white corrugated sign material.

I’ve used bait with very limited success. I do way better just blind setting run and trails. I’ll follow this and maybe pick some stuff up for those guys that bait.

I was inquiring about open water if that changes anybody’s answer.The parsnip do seem to hold up best.

So we need more information. Are you using baited body grips? Or are you just placing bait on the bank In front of a foot hold?
Opps I just read the original post title.

Get some popular poles and just slide the body grip down the pole. Skin up the area right by the trigger. Or if your using foot holds with Hagzs bracket just screw the bracket to the pole. And keep the trap just under water.
A little Hudson seal or Lennons rat all call will help.l

I never catch them on carrots. seems like different things work in different areas.

Ive been using carrots for the last two weeks with good success, i have parsnips in the truck to but havent used them yet. Ive been under ice trapping on connis by huts though and i think location is as important as the bait.

Can’t use exposed meat-flesh in Wisconsin.
