I just pulled off a pond I've was setting for beaver. I ended up only getting 1 off of this pond. I know there are at least another adult and 3 young ones. My issue is the entrance to hut and bank dens are at least 4 ft deep. Looking at using the hagz for setting them up. How well do they work and is it setup just like for 110's? Any info or pics on how you guys set them up is appreciated. Thanks

I built some 5' H stands for mine this year. I don't think I'll ever use anything else for a 330, but I don't trap beaver very heavy either.

This does not directly answer your question, but may be good help.

Hagz products are good.

It is usually wise to stay away from the den to avoid spooking them. It sounds like you may have spooked them. Make sets away from the den where you can bed the trap solidly then send the caught beaver on a quick ride to the bottom.

If you have to trap the den just drive two stakes down one on each side of the den entrance and with pole and a hook just lower the 330 down over the stakes.

Its pretty much the same with the 110s, just a bigger trap and rod/rebar. You can out the brackets on both springs or just the one(I only use one).

Forward to 16:55 on how I use the brackets.

I've stayed away from the hut. Mainly setting foothold on castor mounds and where they've been coming out. Wasn't having much luck, that's why I thought to move to hut or bank dens.

They only get spooked for a minute or less when the trap whacks them.
Trapping the den entrance is paydirt.
If you are going to trap beaver den/house entrances in open water, invest in a good pair of chest waders. Its easy to find the entrance holes with your feet.

May be different in winter, but messing around that den entrance may make em hole up in there for several days.

Took an old female 7 days to come out on a nuisance job once. But, we had already caught em all but her and drained the pond. Could walk out to lodge and plant 330s in inches of water at the entrances.

Find the den entrance with a wading stick first lest ye float your hat.

I have chest waders now, one to many days trying tip toe and not succeeding. I have been belly deep on a few runs on this pond. Going back in 2 weeks and see what i can find. I think I might get a pole to walk around pond with find runs and mark them that way. Was told once to block them off to try and figure out which ones they are using.

You're just making an a frame out of long poles and running them through the springs of the trap.
