Is it better to set in a tree, leaning pole or on the ground? Ive each one done on the web I assume there’s benefits to each.

I set my fisher sets on the ground, I have never tried one in a tree or leaning pole.. Do you have certain laws there that push you into one set or another?

Most of mine have been on the ground.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

There generally aren’t any rules that say they have to be in trees. There are some rules but they don’t really apply for conibear traps under 6 inches in size.

Too much vole damage on marten unless the catch is up.Fisher not so much clipping but shrews will drill them.
Everything clips marten fur.
If your forced to check every day by law, then it is not as much of an issue. Also much easier to keep traps operating in deep snow when set elevated.(If you trap in winter where there is lots of snow).

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Boco is right. I like vertical sets on trees or slightly leaning trees myself. Quick, easy, and snowproof, unlike ground or leaning pole sets. Also catch a higher percentage of males in vertical sets, without an appreciable drop in catch rate.
