Does snow set them off?

Suppose to snow in a couple days and was wondering if the snowfall sets them off? I'm new to these things.

I've used several different brands of cameras, and never had a problem with snow setting them off. On the other hand, one errant blade of grass in the wrong place....

Thanks Jack,

I'd like to put one out tomorrow with snow expected Thursday eve but wasn't sure. I haven't heard of snow triggering them but really haven't paid much attention to the do and don't s of it.

Thanks again!

Don’t sweat the snow that much, during a storm there will be a lot of movement going on most everything will set it off often. Like said the right blade of grass or branch will have you deleting a lot of unwanted photos just the way it is.

Good batteries and 16 or 32 SD cards are your friend.

My card says 32, and just put new batteries in it.

Thanks Lawdog, all experience is appreciated!

Wind blown wet snow from the right direction will block the lens and the sensors.

This has been about the only problem I've had with cameras and snow.

Get a few spare SD cards to swap out and no down time that way getting started when you go to view them.

My son put up a Moultrie one fall and after a couple of times checking forgot about it.

Through the winter, spring then summer till early fall. I found it and pulled it down.

There were 3500 pictures and over 30% of the batteries were good. It was in a pine tree haven protected.

Thats good in my book.

Avoid pointing it into the sun when possible on a sunny day the photos will suck.

Hippie; In view of what QBD and 20 say ~ and the fact of its existence in the first place ~ there's cracking vid, on YT. Bloke shows how to make cam cowls and cammo them.

He uses buckets. Not blue ones. He has another use for those, apparently. His cammoing technique alone is well worth the watch though. Mate showed me the vid and I was paint shopping! grin

I don't think slapping up random vids from strangers is too frowned on in here? If a Mod sees fit to remove it? PM me wink

cant say ive noticed snow or rain triggering modern cameras. but the wind that comes with those events might---in addition to blades of grass anticipate issues from blowing of the tree the camera is attached to along with any small limbs or weeds out in front moving depending on sensitivity of the trigger.

i have more problems with night time video quality during rain/snow. those tend to harder to view. its basically like driving in a snow storm with the high beams on when that IR is triggered. the pic tends to gray out. same as looking thru night vision.

Those shades pictured would not do a thing in the wet blowing snow conditions I mentioned in an earlier post. Still subject to cover up the lens or sensors.
