silkyplainscoyot trapper Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 1,487 Nebraska	It works. Depending on your conditions flake type is better for colder conditions. Glycol is only good down to about 20. Flake down to 0.

USMC47 🦫 trapper Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 14,308 Montana	I’ve used quite a bit of flake and even it has limitations. -22 the other night and stuff just gets hard on top. I believe in an “all of the above” approach when it gets that bad. Some peat in the trap bed, some waxed dirt, some calcium chloride, bed the trap, waxed dirt, and a hair of local dirt if it’s decent. I do crush it some to make the crystal size smaller, provides more surface area and shows less. I sprinkle under before bedding, around jaw edges after bedding, and if needed, lightly mixed in with top covering. You might need to Google to find a suppier.
