My VK was running good all last year and this winter. Then I went beaver trapping yesterday and got stuck getting bait sticks. Seized right up.
How is yours doing. Any luck trapping this year how's your snow conditions?

My VK did not seize up. The fan got a stick and busted up and a price of fin James in the fan belt. Just got to get a new belt and fan. Try and figure out some form of guard to keep sticks out of there.

Interesting have seen rad. top on my 600 ace skandic with lots of twig tips. Spent a lot of time ramming through willows at moose and white partridges (ptarmigan), and that will do it. Something to check for now and then.

Can try use green scrubber for guards. The chore boy/girl stuff. We use it to replace air intake screens that tear. Air will still be able to make it into the body of the rig. Hope that helps

Crosspatch, those sticks will blow a fuse eventually. To get them out you have to take the front of the machine apart to get the fan off the radiator to clear it, not something you want to be doing on the trail. I've done it with my tundra ace. Twice. I made covers for the fan exhaust openings with some old summit screens.

The pogos encourage bad behavior, so I added more armor. The belly pan at the pogo is a catch for sticks, you can see the crack on the throttle side belly pan at the pogo. The piece I added there deflects much better, and I extended the skid plate up to the grill. Pretty hillbilly, but then so is my penchant for going places I shouldn't.

Working up a piece of expanded metal to cover the plastic grill.
