Ha, Ha. I have trouble walking, let alone trying to run.
I tripped on a garden hose yesterday morning.

I think normal blood pressure is different for everyone but lifestyle certainly can make a difference.

I very seldom have a systolic reading with an automatic BP cuff that I am happy with. Diastolic is fine. When taken by a nurse/Dr. with a manual cuff. Both numbers are fine. I take BP meds.

Heard a little blurb on the main stream news that cases of blood pressure issues are on the rise since the beginning of 2021.

Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all. I am a stress eater and as this post started over and copied my work causes stress for me it did/does. August 7th, 2021 was my last day as Athletic Director at our school, 13 years. This job was incredibly stressful. Kathy and I decided it was a good time to change our lives. We went low carb, no way we could do keto, not for us. We cut refined sugars and most sugars, (my cheat for stress is sweets, "Schwans ice cream"). We cut refined flours, and most carbs. No more potatoes, no more breads, pastas, etc. It works for us. I have lost 64 pounds Kathy has lost 30 pounds. Add in more time for thinking about us, exercise, etc. my blood pressure is now running 117/75. I still take a med with water segment.
I now come home after school doing things I never would see, haul garbage, sweep, vacuum, dust, prep supper. Then I go to the garage and putter. No more everything for everyone else. As I stated I believe each of us is different and need to find what works or us. Apologies this got long but I am pretty happy with our changes.

Another success story. Congratulations. Meds didn't do it . Diet did.

Most doctors dont want to cure you.they get kick backs from big pharma to get you on a pill regiment for life. then you have to come back and see them nexy month. HBP is the golden goose that buys their Porche

I think BP and marriage go hand in hand. That is what drives mine up.

Mine's running 180-200 over 120-140.

Pretty high. They gave me some blood pressure meds, the numbers came down some, but when I tried to get a refill, they said I have to go back to the doctor. Why the heck did they say I have 3 refills left if I have to go back to the doctor every time? That was last spring.

I avoid salt like the plague but that doesn't seem to matter. I seriously do not know if this is really serious like they say or if it's a big money wheel for the doctors and the pharmacies. I hate doctoring.

My stress levels are OFF THE CHART right now but that is out of my hands. It'll get better with time.

Bernie, sorry to hear about the stress and not being able to control it. I was the same but was somewhat greed based, AD was money driven so we can retire this year. But the stress was not worth it. Had to get out of it and away from the stress. If we can help in anyway let me know.

120/80 is too high? I do know the AMA wants the standard of BP to be UNDER 120 and UNDER 80. But 120/80 is perfect.

Another story about salt. I used to not use much salt, as a matter of fact I quit for a few years altogether. BP didn't go down at all.
Lately the doc I have been seeing for an auto immune disorder has been doing blood panels every other month. My sodium levels were LOW. The remedy-add more salt in your diet!

I have always opted for staying away from stress in career and finances. Just not worth it. Those are things you can control. Other things you cannot.

Bear Tracker has it figured out.

If one searches for reasons causing high blood pressure you will find that lack of magnesium in your diet is one of the top items. A magnesium supplement like magnesium glycinate or magnesium threonate can be helpful. It appears that getting enough magnesium in one's diet is not easy for most individuals.

Also, when you put the cuff on make sure the line up dot on the cuff is in line with the inside center of your elbow joint. If not, it will likely give an incorrect reading

Bernie Im not sure about down there but up here the BP you posted is considered a medical emergency. I've been an EMT for 10 years now and my youngest daughter is a critical care paramedic. I just had a conversation with her about this last night. A neighbour came over to have me take his BP. It was 200/90 and he refused to go to the ER. I called her and she said to tell him he has to go, its just to dangerous not to. Called his doctor and found out he cant get in to see him until late April so convinced him to go to the ER. Not trying to scare you, but those numbers are dangerously high.

Reducing salt often doesnt help. Read the book "the lies my doctor told me" talks about salt and BP.

Reducing salt in not the answer. Reducing carbs is the only way.
Some might be taking the reading the wrong way as well, or might not even have HBP.

One thing to take into account on blood pressure is chronic pain will increase your blood pressure. A bad back, knee, ankle, shoulder or any area that causes constant pain will raise your bp. How much depends on severity of pain, what triggers it and several other factors.
