According to the price in the catalog you posed the link to in the above post:

Bridger 330 Magnum in Russia is 1016 Rubles which converts to US $13.49

Bridger 330 Magnum in Minnesota Trapline Products (MTP) website in US is $21.75 (MTP manufactures the Bridger line of traps)

My only thought is that perhaps dollars are worth much more than what the official exchange rate is. This was the way things were with the Cuban peso when I was in Havana many years ago.

Bridger traps are manufactured in Taiwan, and there is a higher importation tax on steel that comes from there.
So if they are shipped to a USSR distribution place therefor cheaper in the long run without a 30% duty paid on the steel.

So those 3 beaver in the picture what would the castor weigh from them ?
0.9 to 1 kilo?

I asked Tim about this and this was his reply...

"Sergey is a dealer of ours in Russia. He made a large purchase a couple years ago when prices and freight were much cheaper than today. Looking at his website most of his inventory is gone showing 0 in stock. The Bridger traps went right from Taiwan to him and actually got there cheaper than having them shipped here. We shipped the MB traps and the various accessories dye, wax, lure, from here in a container."

On January 3, I sold a batch of 2kg castor for 60,000 rubles

from these three beavers, I took 580 grams of castor oil.
the size of castor oil depends on the habitat. I caught these three in one pond. according to my observations in ponds (in stagnant water), there is less castor. but in the river, where there is a current there is much larger. I don’t know how to explain it yet.

Kosoi, I have observed the same thing for many years. Colony beaver that live with friendly other beavers have no need to mark their territory very much. But river beaver territory are often invaded by other beavers. These beaver spend more time marking their territory and tend to have larger castors. In lakes with colony beaver I average 7-8 beavers for one pound of dry castor. River beaver I average 4-5 beaver for one lb of castor.

This is a nice set of river castors taken a year or two ago.

If my understanding of the exchange rate with the ruble is correct you are getting about $175 USD for one lb of castor? Is that just dry castor as seen in the above picture or prepared castor?

Anyway, 60,000 rubles must make your very happy?! Yes?
