Anybody's state keep track of small game weight records? I have just caught what I consider to be probably the raccoon of a lifetime in Louisiana, although it was a bit sad to be honest. I caught this giant on a #1 victor long spring on a blind set, close to a den. Now I would have got this guy mounted, but man, somebody shot him with what looks like a .223 projectile. Dude had a massive hole in his back, his front arm was completely broken and shattered and he had other damage. This had to have been atleast 1 month+ if not longer, he was definitely a fighter man, I had no clue he was hurt when I walked up on him. Anyways, he tipped the scales at 15 and a half pounds, and he was 4 feet even for the length of his body from nose to end of tail measurement. I know the people up north see this all this time, but for the southern states it's quite rare to get a raccoon over 10lbs.

Heck, im happy to get a 15# coon where im at, which is a baby compared to 100 miles north of me.

I think a few states keep such records but not many.

That's small for up here (15lbs). Never trapped down south. Congratulations on your largest too bad it was shot up

I put 4 on the stretchers this year over 35#. Two stretched to what would be 6X. They were wanderers, out in the fields in coyote sets.

Congrats on catching such a big one for down there.

I am from Texas and coons were around 12# for a big one, but once I trap up in the north they were huge my biggest one weighed 38# and he stretched over 5x wasn't vary long but was super fat!
But it sucks to get one shot up like that would of made a real nice mount.

If you’ve got a good taxidermist let him or her check it out , they can make a lot of damage disappear.
