I’d like to try making some BTO. Do you chunk up the entire tail or just trim off and use the fattiest parts? Does the skin need to be removed? Any info or pointers would be appreciated.

I use the whole tail, I do not remove the skin. I cut cubes 3 * 3 cm. I put everything in a jar and put it in the sun. What animals do you use the oil to trap in Russia?

Thanks everyone. I’m dreaming up a bait of deer liver, beaver meat, castor, and BTO - all harvested myself. Then I’m going to use it without testing it just to drive Yes Sir nuts! (JK Yes Sir, you’ve busted my ballz before but I’ve grown to appreciate your knowledgeable posts)

your killing me Might try some sac oil also. My experience when it comes to K9s its more valuable than castor. Think it was Carmen that said in his book castor is over rated when it comes to K9s. But im.sure everyone has seen this in there testing.

Thanks Yes Sir, I’ll try that. Thanks MattDoyle, assuming you meant glycerine, was also planning to add SB and MP to preserve.

BTO…. You ain’t seen nuthin yet, ba ba ba baby… Sorry, I always hear that song when I see those letters.
Anyways, my tail chunks have been festering since early July and I’m getting ready to collect. Any advice on how much SB and/or MP to use per quart of oil? And I think I saw somewhere that the leftover tail pieces were good in a dirthole, how much SB and MP?
Thanks for any advice.

I've got a jar of leftovers from making BTO in the cellar that's two years old with no preservatives and it's still fine. Plan on using it in a couple weeks for fox and yotes
