I’ve had the same coyote cruising my trail for 3 weeks now. Keep
Getting it on camera every few days. The funny thing is, it’s the only one I ever get on camera. Wondering if there’s something behind that? Do they have core areas that other dogs won’t go into like a dominance type thing??

Are you sure it's the same coyote?

Sounds like mange. Do the coyote a favor by catching him and putting him down. Can you set your camera up where it will take video or reset faster to take pictures sooner.

As brought out, sounds like the coyote has mange. That's why you see it all the time in the same area because it is sick. When they have mange they don't have the energy to travel and hunt like a healthy one. So mangy coyotes will stay close to where they can keep warm and feed off dead things. If there is a dead pile close by that's what is keeping it in the area.

I had a dead deer close by and that’s what/was eating off of. I’ve tried on 3 separate occasions to shoot this thing. It’s like an episode of Wile e coyote with this thing! It’s using my atv trail and I had 4 sets out along it. Coyote hasn’t even as so much looked at any of them. I got the one red fox and that’s it. Sets are pulled due to this storm. Good thing I pulled them because 2 sets were frozen in (still new at this game) so I wouldn’t have got anything in them anyway.

I personally have never trapped one yet. I’ve shot a couple over the years and they had mange also….

I have 2 SPYPOINT out at the moment and they work like crap. Worst cameras I have ever had in 12+ years!

Like a said in an earlier reply. I’m very new to this game. Always spent my time on shooting deer and never put the time into trapping. We got hit hard with EHD this year and the deer are almost non existent. So I figured I would utilize this time to do all the proper prep work and get my stuff organized and start getting traps in dirt (only way to learn). As they say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

I’d try to get him in a blind trail set if you can.

I run 7 SPYPOINT cameras constantly. I don’t think I have one that is over 2 months old bc they’re always being sent back for replacements. Won’t be buying any more. Tactacam is far superior.

I ran just one last year and never had a lick of problems with it! This year, I bought 3 more 2 packs of them, and I can almost count on the camera not working again after I shut it off to move it to a new location. Should have spent the extra money on the Tactacam from the start.

We wanted to go with Tactacam but after waiting two months for cameras they refunded our money and we went with more Spartans. I’ve learned with cameras, you get what you pay for them. Got one Spartan that’s almost 6 years old and still working.
For those with Tactacams, do they have an app where you can control the camera and change setting from? Are the pics “like real time” or do they come in bunches at certain times? Are they adjustable in their picture taking times?

Tactacam has an app that works similar to Spartan's.

The pics are sent as they are taken.

They can be set with various pic intervals.

Pretty good camera. I have 1 and its about 8 months old. No problems

A few years ago, I tried out Browning trail cameras.
They beat anything I had used.
I use standard and cellular cameras.
The current cellular cameras are second generation and have all the features you seek including an app for photos and controls. You can set instant upload or at times you set.
The quality of photos and videos is outstanding.
Battery life is 6-8-12 months.
I get them from Trailcampro. Best price, free two day shipping, the double the warranty to two years, and best of all the warranty is with them. When a problem develops, I email them the purchase date, model number, and serial number. They send me a return authorization. I ship the problem camera and they send me a brand new one. No repairs or dealing with unknown people.

I use them in my business and personally to take at least 100,000 images per year.
Fantastic.
