We smoked a deer hide about 2 months ago and it turned out nice. It has been hanging since then. It still has a strong smoke smell. Brought it into the house and it didn't take long for the smell to reach through the house. Is there a way to reduce/neutralize the smoke smell?

Not to be a smart Alec but isn’t the Smokey smell part of the allure of smoking a hide in the first place? 🤔

Smoking is to help seal the tan and keep the hide soft after getting wet. It is not to add smell to the hide.

Yes, the smell of smoke is merely a side effect, but it is a great side effect.
