One forgets how much hair is on those hogs, till we see a picture like that one.

So the dressed out meat from that would yield 40 kg ?

At our farm my grandparent had a hair comb made with the stiff bristles from hogs, always remember the morning bush before out to do chores.

How old do you expect that animal to be ?

Nice Boar Kosoi. We do not have them here in North eastern Ontario.
They must use trails when the snow gets to be a Meter deep?
Have you tried snaring them?

Yes. wild boars now move only along paths, so it’s easier for them. No, I didn't try to tame.

Congratulations on your boar ! We have them here too ! According to some of the biologists our have alot of Russian genes . We generally shoot them at night or hunt them with dogs in my area as they are a big pest and very destructive to the cattle grazing areas. How to you hunt them over there ? Whata your favorite rifle and bullet for them ?

It will be interesting to see the meat come back from the butchers from that hog.
In winter time her they move to the black spruce forest and eat the sphagnum moss well down below the ground till they have a 2 meter deep hole. What habitat do they move in the winter in your area Kosoi

The hogs that were around me for several years escaped from a farm raising them to ship to Germany for the restaurant trade. During the spring flood of 97 about 200 swam over the fences.and the zoo chase was on then. That group lasted at least 10 years in the wild. There are pockets still around. Some of the bear hunting baiting up north the clients just shoot hogs and pass-up the bears so they can keep at it.
Some family groups have lived inside round bails and never ventured out when -30c. To say the least the farmers are not pleased to find 30 bales all chewed up
