There is nothing specel about the winchesters that just a 100 year anniversary box. I would buy the cci sv. They shoot great out of all our guns. I have a 20 mm ammo can full of them so im low.
Guess I'll have to pick up a box or two and try them again. Last time I tried em I couldn't get them to shoot well at all for some reason out of most of my guns which is weird because everyone talks about how good they are. For $4 what could it hurt lol Wolfie your not alone I get nothing but bad performance from CCI 22s, every auto I own seems to hate the things and jams regularly when I use them, and accuracy is so so at best

We use a small pill bottle to carry around our spare 22 shells. Helps to keep them out the defrost holes in the dash.

CCI has always worked good for me. I like the 40 grain solid bullets. Those 36 grain stingers are junk IMO. They sell some they call tactical . Picture of an AR on the box. Copper colored bullets. Accurate. A little pricey but not near as bad as match ammo. A good 22 ought to shoot quarters at 25 yards with almost anything you feed it. At 50 with good ammo.
Most of the time if a 22 is jamming up its a magazine problem. Sometimes it just needs a good cleaning.
I haven't bought any thunderbolts in probably 20 years. Bought two bricks. They work fine for dispatch at 5 feet but the ones I have, (3-4 boxes left) are pretty sorry. Have a dud or two in every box and best groups I ever got were half dollar size at 25 yards. No clue what they are like today.

The Walmart here has the Super X here also for $40/300. They been there a long time and it doesn't look like they'll sell out again soon until D.C. does something stupid again. I think the name Winchester makes the price tag higher.

We use a small pill bottle to carry around our spare 22 shells. Helps to keep them out the defrost holes in the dash. That sounds awfully organized to me. I use the broadcast method with 22 shells randomly strewn throughout the vehicle. That way when I run out I know I can just dig through cup holders, ash tray and under seats to get enough to reload.

For a great many years my dad and I would get CCI Stingers to shoot anything. They always shot.
In my old Winchester 22 rifle, they would hit in a space the size of a half dollar at 100yards.

I keep the 50 and hundred round plastic boxes that the CCI stingers and some of the non bulk ammo come in and keep reloading them to keep in the truck console
I think I have some 20+ year old boxes not sure how many times they have been refilled some have gotten loose enough a little painters tape keeps them from siding open
they are nice because you can slide the lid back and dump just 5 or 10 at a time into your hand.
some friends got into rebuilding 10/22 into budget precision guns and were getting honest 1 inch groups at 100 yards from the standard velocity , they re-crown the barrel and square up the chamber end and put a bentz chamber reamer to it , free float the barrel , glass bed the action. they tried eley and a few other much more expensive target ammos and couldn't make any significant improvement on the SV.
every gun is different , i have a bolt action that doesn't hardly seem to care what ammo they get a little better or worse but hard to tell at 25 yards even it's a dime or a nickle group , while the 10/22s see definite improvement with the SV , it may have to do with how it builds pressure the bolt on the semi auto starts moving sooner with one powder than with another
for a statistics project back in school I shot groups with around 10 different 22lr form the 10/22 comparing group size 5 round groups 5 targets for each ammo it was interesting to see then the difference then there were cost vs group size charts and I got a decent grade mean groups , deviation , it made for fun data collection.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I only shoot cci 36gr and I never clean the bore. For those with accuracy problems with any coated bullet try this Shoot a group at 50 yards than clean the bore until it shines Now sit at the bench and shoot a group. Now shoot50 or so rounds and mot worry about the group After those 50 shoot a group. 90% of the time it will be smaller. Shoot 50 more and the group will be slightly smaller Its called cursing the barrel. After it's cured it will not need cleaned. If I'm out hunting in the rain or snow, I wipe the outside dry, when it warms up I wipe it again and shoot 3 shots out of it and it's good to go. Thank you Jim Carmichael

Regarding 22 ammo. Is it just my imagination, but I don't recall that when I was a kid (1970's) that I had 22 duds after carrying around 22 shells in my seemingly always damp/wet pants pockets. But now, I have lots of duds after 22 shells get wet. Is something different about how they are made now? did you try rotating the cartridge to see if they fired? seems like a lot of duds I had, you could just rotate them and theyd fire
