South Main Auto rocks. Wish we had an independent mechanic like him around here. we still have several good independent shops around .

new or re-manufactured rack ?
sounds like you need to go back to the guy who installed the rack
could swap wheels just to rule out the wheels if you have a set that will fit.

Tires are my guess if they're below half tread. They aren't and it was fine before the rack was installed, but drove 40 miles after the rack was installed fine too until it was aligned.... new or re-manufactured rack ?
sounds like you need to go back to the buy who installed the rack re-manufactured, its going back there tonight.

To recap,
Truck was pulling to the right a little. Took to alignment shop. Found the rack was bad. Took to mechanic 40 miles away. Rack was replaced with re-manufactured rack and tires rotated front to back. Drove fine back to alignment shop 40 miles away. Truck was aligned. Test drive = death wobble. Re-balanced and rotated tires again front to back. Still wobbles. Alignment guy thinks he can feel movement in the steering rack. Back to the mechanic 40 miles away at 35MPH! Mechanic found a tiny movement in the ball joint and loose nut on the upper control arm, can't feel any movement in the rack. Ball joint replaced, nut tightened. Still wobbles. Back to alignment shop 40 miles away 35mph. Aligned again, STILL WOBBLES! Headed back to the mechanic tonight 35mph.

I wonder who's part Napa is rebranding in a blue box
I got a thermostat the other day was a Motorad from napa in a napa box, that was Wednesday last week Monday morning the guy I talked to when I had to pull it out cause I wasn't getting enough heat said they alwasy sell the oem temp well I pulled it out and found the box for it sure enough it was a 170* thermostat but OEM is 195*
thankfully the guy I talked to later Monday morning new how to run the computer better than the guy earlier in the morning and returned the 170 and sold me the 195 for 3 dollars more I put the new 195 in and am getting more heat
had to do it twice and the second time the 3 dollar gasket they were out of stock on so had to get the 8 dollar gasket that did the same thing the 3 dollar gasket did , because their minimum stock seems to be all screwed up.

The guy that did the test drive after the alignment could have smashed a curb and ruined a tire, and doesn't want to own up to it. Tires have been rotated since. I don't think that's the problem.

The alignment shop don't replace parts? Trying to understand the driving back and forth?
You have said the tires have been rotated so that can't be it. Have the tires been rotated back to where they started?
I know I have had issues when the lines get crossed when a newbie installed power steering on a rod we were building in the shop I was at. It caused the same issue but didn't matter how fast you were going He couldn't do the rack as he tore his rotator cuff at the alignment shop. The tires have been rotated, then rotated, then rotated again. Both these shops have been solo shops with the owner doing all the work for over 45 years each, no newbies.

Wobble on the front can be a number of things with some being more pronounced than others
Bad Ball joints, bad shocks, steering arms, connecting rods on the steering arms. Wheel bearings, tire weights, bad tire's doubt either one of these as you have fixed them.
Bad steering box, these wear out a lot on short based trucks and jeeps, bent or off camber shocks
Ball joints are usually the biggest problem along with the steering linkages all worn out. With all tie rod ends worn loose,
Could be the steering linkage from the inside engine area is loose, some times they are never ever even mentioned as being worn out or loose.
If you have spacers on the rig, bad hits on the curbs or chuck holes and cause them to move just enough at high speed to throw the balance out on the tire.
Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

Carpooled years ago with a guy and his Camero would do that until stomped on the brakes. Finally found out was tie rod ends on steering were about to come apart.
