At the end of last season I told myself if I don’t have a new (used) truck by this season, I wasn’t trapping. Well it stinks when you gotta keep your word sometimes. Who else is sitting this one out?

I cant just quit, I have an addictive personallity. My line this fall was pathetically small though.

No market for coons here Bum shoulder and arthiritis in both wrist flared up so nope to ALOT of things. Heck missed late muzzle loader too. Spend days waitng on my birds to show up at the feeder. Hard to do much when putting on a shirt or taking a shower means 30 minutes under a ice pack just to move my fingers on one hand.

A season missed is a season NEVER got back.

When I trap, I miss Deer season so its a toss up that way.

Very true, swamp wolf. I haven’t been drawn the past 3 years on any buying tags I’ve applied for here. Not trapping this season has put me in a funk. Starting to forget what a wild animal looks like.

No traps set here the last two years. Just can't justify the time and money spent for a $100-$200 fur check (IF). I am 56 and can't wait to retire to spend a lot of time at my cabin and will be setting steel then from my UTV and hope prices are at least respectable. I have too many other things I enjoy doing and I don't need the extra pain on my body for literally no reason. The fur prices make me sad actually.

I’ll keep trapping as long as the ground nest predators are still out there eating.

Not much worried about fur prices as that has never been the reason that I set traps.


Hope you folks waiting for better prices are willing to wait, I doubt they will ever come back.

But, this coon below is worth at least $10 and a turkey or duck nest to me.

small line most likely none next year if things dont turn around enjoy it but have a lot of other fun things to do and some that pay well. Let it all go south price wise start trapping and turn the critters loose in town ADC pays better.

I’m always trapping throughout the year skunks never stop coming. LOL I caught a couple cats and a handful of badgers but skunks are my main target and any pop out badgers I come across.

I’m up to 12 skunks at one location and 7 at another in the last month that pays better then yotes this year average wise.

I once caught 9 skunks that were raiding my beehives.

Finished fur trapping a week ago today. Traps out 61 days this year.

I hadn’t trapped for three years between moving and two newborns in that time. Decided I’d run a small line with my oldest two kids on the quarter behind the house. Set some coon water sets and a few cat/yote sets. But within a week I was making more and more dry land sets. It’s so addictive . Plus it’s getting personal with these coyotes, they seem to be getting the better of me....for now.
