Chainsaw.

Then you get to try and thaw all the ice out so the track will turn after you get it out.

I agree with chainsaw then get it on something that will slide like a plastic sled or heavy chunk of visqueen.

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

A buddy and his sled, tow strap, chainsaw, a rubber mallet, come along with an anchor if there aint one there, and a pull behind sled Like Oh Snap suggests in case you cant free up the track. Been there and feel for you! Hope you get her out!

I spotted a Tundra in an overflowed creek that a guy walked away from with my binoculars from a mountain side. A couple guys were paid by the Air Force to get it. By the time they got there the cowling had been open and the overflow was almost over the open cowling and windshield. They chainsawed it out and got it onto a sled and pulled it over 10 miles to the road. They couldn’t go back the 18 miles the direction they went in because they couldn’t pull the chunk of ice up out of the remote valley!

So if they could do it you can! I hope you get it! I don’t think you could possibly get all the ice out of everywhere to get the track to turn. Focus on getting it on something that will slide on the ice or snow. That’s just mu opinion!

Dont forget the Voltaren for the after party.
Have seen block and tackle and overhead tripod and lift onto a ladder then slid out sideways, but you are dealing with 2000 pounds now with frozen ice on the machine
best of luck

I had to get my tundra out of overflow that was right at bumper level. We chainsawed it out straight down then chipped out around it so we could get an ice bar under neath it and get it loose. Then built a tripod out of spruce poles and winched the back up and then the front. Chipped a bunch of ice out of it and got it strapped on a siglin for a 85 mile ride home to thaw out. Was a 28 hour ordeal but with 3 of us on a March day it was fun.

I seen some guys hauling a broke down sled out on a blue tarp a little while back. Never tried it myself, but it looked like it was working fairly well.

I have cut up many of plastic 55-gallon drums to come up with plastic for projects that needed to be towed.

I've seen me do it....!

Like Hankit describes above, my solution to a similar problem was to erect a tripod of sturdy spruce poles over the frozen-in machine. It's quite a bit easier to apply enough force straight up (on a short line/comealong) than it is to try and force a long horizontal pull.

Chainsaw makes the job go quicker, but you'll need a good spud and an axe to get underneath.

Once it is loose, you will need to transport the ice-encrusted rascal back to town to thaw out. You just can't knock enough ice out/off of the track and suspension system.

Pete

Ever time I see someone post about using a bavo or an elan I laugh to myself.

The world has passed those machines by.

Drove an long track bavo for years you couldn't pay me enough to drive one now.

My back starts to ache just thinking about it.

No reverse, no power, small gas tank.

Would not trade my Skandic 4 stroke for anything out there right now.

A chainsaw and a shovel a small come-along and away we go.

Just not having to breath in the oil exhaust is a luxury.

Seems like worse conditions than usual on a lot of trap lines this season
