This is in a 1/2 acre plot of clover. Poast will not kill it. I’m not sure glyphosate will kill it. I think it must have been in some clover seed I bought because I done have it anywhere else. It looks similar to monkey grass.

When did u try to kill it with chemicals. If it was in cool weather and it is semi dormant it is very hard to kill a lot of stuff. Hard for to say from pic but it might be cereal rye, annual rye grass or some other form of a cereal grain...???

I tried a few small areas a few times in the summer with Poast at different concentrations with different surfactants. I also tried Sedge Ender with no success either. It is not an annual and the deer will not eat it.

A picture of it green and growing would help identify it.

Ignore my post then. Lol with that information none of my information is valid. I hope it doesn't start spreading on you. If the deer won't eat it and you can't kill it it could be trouble.

The two pictures were taken today. We have had a cold 5 weeks for central Virginia and only the tops are brown. It is not Yellow Sedge and Sedge Ender would not kill it. It is spreading. I will post another picture showing how much is in this plot.

It looks like Quackgrass, If it is then it may take a high dose of
glyphosate, "Roundup kills more.

Glyphosate and Roundup are not one and the same, after all. The active ingredient is just one part of a chemical cocktail that makes up the herbicide—and some research suggests that its complete formulation is more toxic to cells than glyphosate is by itself.

I will have to look up Quackgrass. I wish it was Orchard grass. Deer do eat Orchard grass and it is easy to kill.

Quite a collection of pictures of different sedges online. Maybe you can identify it that way

I don’t think it’s nut sedge. More likely some winter annual.

Doesn’t look like quack grass to me. It definitely isn’t yellow nut sedge. This area had yellow nut sedge and it is easy to burn down with sedge ender and is easy to pull up. This stuff is normally in big clumps and about impossible to pull up even with the ground very wet. I normally spray in the evenings a couple of hours before sunset so it dries before dark.

Its really tough to make a good ID this time of year. Its best to ID when its growing and a seed head helps a ton. Many dormant grasses look exactly the same.
