The other day I was reading past threads and I came across a question Paul ask about whether Yes Sir used glycerine derived from animals or vegetables? Yes Sir answered that he had got his glycerine from a reputable lure manufacturer. The Paul's question stuck in my mind so now I'd like to find out from someone, which glycerine should be used in lure-making and/or urine antifreeze and why?

My understanding (which may be very limited) is only vegetable is available. If I'm incorrect I'd would like to know and would be intrested in where to find animal based glycerin.

Animal based glycerine is available, but I'm not ready to give out my source yet.

I thought we were family boss??.... lol Jk I understand. You helped me out numerous other times and I understand protecting a source for quality ingredients. I've learned my lesson the hard way by sharing when I shouldn't have. I think sourcing authentic quality ingredients is the most difficult part of lure making and I'm just a hobby guy. I couldn't imagine being in the business.

And thank you for correcting me on its availability

Well that pretty much answers my question. I need to add some glycerine to the Jameson’s urine I’m using because of the time of year I use it, it’s frozen beyond slush!

Seldom you would add Propylene Glycol or Salt to your urine to keep it from freezing. Glycerin is a syrupy consistency and adds body and combines blends ingredients well in lures but does little I think to keep it from freezing.

I appreciate your reply John, maybe I misread some of the past threads here mentioning using glycerine and staying away from Propylene Glycol as an antifreeze for urine, even though it is an antifreeze.

Ya Seldom with global warming we might not even need anti freeze in the future.

I prefer P. Glycol in urine with some salt as well. PG is used widely as an antifreeze commercially. Just make sure you are getting the 100% PG. There are several grades being sold I found out over the years.

Thank you Bob, I want to make sure I'm treating your product appropriately.
