Down to the last week of the season here in NY. Hope to get at least 1 more critter by the 15th. My first year trapping and i got off to a late start at that. started putting traps out about 3 weeks ago and have been running 4 #2 bridgers. 1 red fox, 1 skunk and 1 possum (released).
Learnt a lot this season between the forum and youtube. Next season i plan to expand onto more property and increase the number of traps I'm setting. also plan on heading upstate to take Zaggers coyote class.

No reason to release a possum they can have huge litters don’t worry there never seems to be a shortage of them. Congrats on your first season you have the fever now good luck.

Warning about YouTube and public forums, there is just as much poor information as good information on them. Takes experience to be able to sort out who knows what they speak of. I would think Zaggers school would point you in the right direction. Good luck and embrace the challenge.

i would imagine so. i think one critical mistake i made so far. was switching my bait/lure after i got the first fox. should have just stayed with that combo.

Nice job, Jetmec. Ask questions if you need to when prepping for next season. We are all happy to help.

That’s not as big of a mistake as you think.

Nice work! I got started late too. It's no biggie - as long as we get out there catching and learning all we can, I'd say we're doing alright.

Just remake the set. If it was a dirt hole just add a little bait down the hole. No need adding more lure the fox should have put down a lot of new smell. Sounds like you are hooked. Enjoy and you will learn every day out in the field.
