I can remember the movie they made about it. Jr. was all upset that John Boy Walton played his character, but after all was said and done everyone was happy with the way the movie turned out. I enjoyed it .

Darn near took his life. A father and young son was hunting with him and were able to get help and keep him alive until it arrived.

The guy that was with him when he fell was Dick Willy. Dick had a place on Finley Point on Flathead Lake in MT. I ran with a bull rider who's grand parents lived next door to Dick. I was on Hanks bus and drank a few beers with him for about three weeks. He is a talented man.

That had to be a neat experience. My favorite song of his, and he has a boat load of good songs, is a duo with Kid Rock called "Redneck Paradise". Nothing wrong with promoting a little hunting and shooting sports and sticking it to the libs in the process!

Yep he fell in 1975, whole face is fake, amazing they were able to put him back together. I know he had to have surgery on that one eye about every year to straighten it back out, probably still does. He use to live about 40 miles from me in Cullman, Al. had a big fan club/gift shop we would go to from time to time called the Montana Exchange.

when living in Tn. in the 80's he lived just a few miles from me. Had a honkytonk out on hiway 79. He didn't play there much himself but they always had a good band and crowd. Place could and did rough from time to time.
I was comm. fishing down there and went to lay some lines or nets up a cove. I noticed a what looked like a floating swim dock. The next morning about 3 am I went to check the lines and there was a helicopter sitting on that dock. As I got closer to it Ole Hank hollered and asked if I had caught anything. I hadn't seen him and it about scared me half to death. LOL
He was a very good fella really. Talked to him several times after that.

Y'all ever see him playing a song and down-tune his guitar on the fly, than tune it back to normal and keep on truckin with out a hitch? That requires a wicked good ear. He might be the most underappreciated musician of all time.
