That was an awesome thread! Thank you! Great pictures and not a lot of talking smile

Maybe I missed this, but curious how many "sets" you were checking per day to get what you did?

Thanks and congrats again on a successful trip!

Hey Swamp, just curious, out of the 17 coyotes you caught, how many were in remakes?

Ahh......I was wondering if any coyotes trappers were curious about this?

Caught a young female coyote about 6 days after an older female coyote. Original set was a flat set. Remake was a flat set with trap pulled as close to edge as chain would allow.

Caught a young male coyote about 7 days after a grey fox. Original set was a dirthole. Remake was dirthole. Coyote worked set from rear. New vertical hole dug beside trap. Coyote caught that night.

The big black male coyote was caught about 6 days after a remake behind a possum. Original and remake were both dirtholes.

Had a cottontail rabbit get into a trap and somehow fire it. A coyote(s) removed 99% of the rabbit for me that night. Original was a flat set. Remake was a flat set with the lured rabbit foot as visual. That night an adult male coyote.

All others were caught in original sets and no other critters were caught behind them.

I think a lot about these same type observations. Good question.

Btw...At dirthole remakes I never dig out the original hole. I bed trap and auger another hole at different spot. Augering out the original hole pulls the bait and lure right out onto the trap bed.

Good stuff!

I always remake sets after a catch. It takes a while for the scent to settle down, but then they start catching again in a week or two. At least that has been my experience with coyotes.

I do longer term Predator control, so I’m on a ranch for several months at a time.
