Mostly, the wife and I just drink beer, but on occasion partake in some bourbon. Buffalo Trace is my favorite, with Four Roses and Elijah Craig not too far behind. The problem is finding Buffalo Trace. Seems like it's getting harder and harder to find around here. Is this the same all over the states? (Blanton's seems even rarer to find on the shelf.)

Yes, it is here. It seemed to start in the BuffaloTrace whiskeys which was my favorite line of whiskeys with Elmer T. Lee disappearing first, then Wellers, then Colonel EH Taylor, then Blanton’s, then Eagle Rare, and finally Buffalo Trace itself disappeared. My local party store got in 3 bottles of Eagle Rare 2 months ago and saved one for me. Huge jump in $$ though! Rock Hills Farms Single Barrel 100proof disappeared about the same time as Elmer T. Lee.

I have a cousin who's into Bourbons, He told me that if I ever found a bottle of Pappy's I should buy it for him.
there is a small local liquor store that has Blanton's, and several different bottles of Pappys on hand along with lots of other rare bourbons.
Of course the price is high, thats why its still available.
So I called my Cousin and told him I found a bottle of Pappys. And I bought it for him.
He was happy at first then he asked the price. A Little over $2000. He asked if I really bought it. Told him the truth, no I didn't buy it. But do you want me to? Of course he said no.

Owner got tired of selling the stuff at "normal" prices and then seeing them end up online for sale for 10-20x his selling price so now he sells the stuff at the 10-20X price and eliminates the middleman.

Can't say I blame him.

Good luck buys some blantons, best bet I have heard of is getting it is talking to liquor store owners to see when they get it and how they sell it.

Yes, buffalo trace is non existent in NC. Not to mention the others Seldom mentioned such as Eagle Rare and Blantons.

When I travel, however, Texas has about all you could ever need....I am well stocked on buffalo trace now

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Never tried buffalo Trace, But Four Roses in my opinion is a very good bourbon at a very good price. I also think alot of Blantons, Have to put your name on a list at the liquor store. I will be going to Texas in the near future and will try to find some BT.

PA liquor is all run by organized crime (aka the state gov't).

I can run across Buffalo Trace occasionally and Eagle Rare quite a bit less occasionally. Blanton's I saw in a store once in my life..........and I grabbed 4 bottles. Weller and EH Taylor.........forget it. The state sees to it that when the rare and allocated stuff does chance come to our state, 90% of it goes to 6 counties in the southeast corner of the state. 5% goes to Allegheny county (Pittsburgh) and the other 5% gets spread among the other 60 counties in the state.

Most are figuring out by now..........

Elijah Craig
Four Roses Small Batch
Knob Creek 9 year
Wild Turkey 101

All the above are great pours and nearly ALWAYS on the shelf.

It forced me into exploring and finding some decent pours with the flavor profile I enjoy- Old Grandad 114, Wild turkey 101, Makers Mark 46, and Old Elk Wheated Bourbon to name a few

I saw some recently at Total Wine.
If your state allows, maybe you can order online.
NM doesn't allow delivery of liquor. Wine is ok but not liquor. I tried placing an online order recently fout 2 specific liquors and every website says they can't deliver to NM

Never had BT. Elijah Craig and Four Roses are winners. If you've never tried Redemption I recommend it

I think that's the stuff my wife was telling me about

she was listening to a pod cast where they were discussing it and the theft problem the plant has , one of the real fancy ones they serialize the bottle , people sell the empty bottles on Ebay , then if you watch long enough you can often see the same Sn# come back up for sale some place

the factory had a theft problem usually a little hear a little there but at one point it was a bunch of barrels of the stuff like a truck load not your little ford ranger either.

they hype the product and most people can't really tell the difference from a less expensive bottle

Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare are both allocated here. Local liquor store gets 3 bottles of each every few months. They call me and let me buy one bottle. They have people from NY and Pennsylvania on a sign up waiting list. I've been sipping on Fighting Kock bourbon as of late.

not a bourbon drinker myself. every once in awhile i will have one, but mainly a beer guy myself.
i retired from Four Roses. everyone tells me Four Roses single barrel and Four Roses small batch is about as good as it gets.

I got sick of having to look for the bourbons I like. It’ll take them years to ramp up production. I started in on Irish and Scotch whisky.

We found out years ago from a very seasoned bartender that JW Double Black is a great scotch in cocktails and he was absolutely correct. It’s been our go-to mixing scotch ever since offsetting Makers Mark 46 or Old Granddad 114 as our mixing bourbons.

I can find Buffalo Trace on the shelf. Haven’t seen Blantons in several years.
