Have been tanning several critters to make hats and wall hangers to sell later. Question is can I store the tanned pelts in a chest freezer to keep in good shape until I need them?

Yes you can keep tanned fur in a freezer.
The worst way to store tanned fur is in high humidity(like a basement in summer),or in plastic.
It is fine to store tanned fur hanging in a closet or in a paper bag or cardboard box.
If you hang tanned fur in a basement in summer run a de humidifier.

I don’t have a basement, or closet space for the amount of fur I’m tanning. So you think I would be okay to fold them up in cardboard boxes and put in freezer? Or better to stack on top of each other laying on cardboard in the freezer?

Put them in a cardboard box and stash them under your bed. You can fit a lot of fur under a bed frame

I have mine stored in a cardboard box in my closet (low humidity) but I added some scrap aromatic cedar scraps in with them to keepout any pesky bugs.

If you are storing tanned fur any where other than a freezer, be sure to check it on a regular basis for moth damage. Even if you use cedar blocks or chemical moth repellant, still check often. Those little buggers can sneak in and wreck havoc I you don’t keep an eye out for them.

WT88, I have been storing tanned fur for several years in those big vacuum storage bags. They are made for compressing and storing blankets, clothing, etc. The ones I have came from Amazon and are about 27" x 40", I believe. They have worked well for me (no bugs or moisture) , I keep them in closet, on a shelf, in a spare bedroom. I can't remember the exact cost, but think around $20 for 6 bags. Gary
