Congratulations Salem trapper! I don't remember my first coin anymore to many years ago. Detecting is like so many other things. To find a lot you not only have to get out a lot. You have to be where there are things to find. It can be as addictive as many other things.

Of course not finding a "to do" list was a high-value find as well!

I prefer water detecting. It's easier and for me, it's been more productive when it comes to finding jewelry and coins.

Mac I saved my first find and put it in a 2x2. It will never be worth more than face value, but it is kind of cool to have the #1. Nox 800 now previously Ace 300 AT Pro

Cool find. Any find aside from rusty nails and pull tabs is fun.
Just detecting in my own yard I've found a few coins, mostly pennies. And I found a loaded 30-30 cartridge.
And there must have been boys living in this house in years past... Because I've found lots of Hot Wheel/Matchbox cars... It's usually just pieces of them. Probably lawnmower victims.
My detector isn't nice. In fact it's Amazon bottom tier. It was pretty frustrating starting out but things got better when I added a pinpoint detector.
I've been thinking if I could get permission I would go detect under the bleachers at the high school... I could probably make enough in one trip to buy more batteries. Lol

Nox 800 now previously Ace 300 AT Pro Mark K I wish I would have put my first coin in one them little holders and marked it. I may still have it if it wasn't a newer coin. I sold a few coins when I first started detecting but would guess unless it was older it went in pile. Was actually mostly all wheatie that I sold. For the most part I have kept everything I found that wasn't straight up trash. I even save the little bit of trash copper lead brass. Anything worth putting in a load going for scrap. I know I still have the first gold ring I found and any ring that wasn't returned to owner. Even have one nice stainless ring I like that Ive been wearing for years. Got couple other titanium rings and another small piece. Set on bass of the lamp by my chair. Rings aren't even worth anything at pawn shop. So I have them right here to look at for inspiration. Anyway Im not one to get rid of things. So I got a card board box with 33 years worth small items in it. Even modern clad what I didn't loose playing cards or spend on a soda. I'd love to have a Nox and it may be my next machine if I decide to sell my gold items. Maybe I will hit the lottery or find big gold bar. Lol. Here are my 3 junk rings and little eagle pin with runestone. 1975 was the year I graduated so set it there. Not sure what the pin was made for? My little shrine reminds me to just go do it. Mac

For a fun day picking up or digging clad check out your local high school football And baseball bleachers. Half of it will be laying in the first 1/4 inch of sand. Lots of trash under there. It will certainly help your discrimination game.
