Saw diesel over 5 bucks today. Gonna be run-a-way inflation if an adult doesn't soon take control because costs of transportation alone are skyrocketing.

Hippie, I was over your way today. When I went to the tax accountant the gas price in McAlisterville was $3.99, I was shocked that it wasn't over $4.00. When I came back from the accountant 45 minutes later the gas was $4.19.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Had me wondering because they're always a dime more than beside me. I got gas last Fri or Sat., I forget exactly but it was 3.69. Last night that same place is 4.09.

$3.79/gal today. It will be over $4.00 next week no doubt. Sad state of affairs with all the inflation taking place too. Will be a lean spring/summer and who knows what fall and next winter will surprise us with.

There's an Exxon/Mobile right up the street that's always a nickle cheaper than the Wawa I filled up at this morning. i pulled in before i realized all pumps were shut down, they were out of gas.

I went to the Wawa and was talking to an old guy filling up beside me. He said the the Wawa jumped their gas price to $4.19 yesterday while the Exxon/Mobile kept it at $3.95. He said cars were lined up down the street, folks emptied them out of all grades if gas and diesel in one day.

Eh...wot?

Rat 12 MM BOPD is over 4 BILLION barrels per year. The US would need a robust drilling program to maintain production at that level for any appreciable amount of time. I think your reserve estimate for oil is definitely in the ballpark. We probably have 100+ years worth of gas. I wouldn't get too twisted up about fuel prices yet. If the Russian oil is kept off the market, the price increases are just getting started.

The bipartisanship breaking out after Russia's invasion of Ukraine is extending perhaps a little too far for immediate White House comfort.

A bipartisan group of senators -- extending across a true ideological spectrum -- is pushing a new bill that would halt Russian energy imports. They are arguing that with Russian President Vladimir Putin using "energy as a weapon of war," the U.S. should be acting in like it -- in ways that hurt Putin more than boycotts of vodka or caviar.

The White House, though, isn't ready to go there. Press secretary Jen Psaki said sanctioning Russian gas and oil could cause a shortage that is counter to U.S. strategic interests, warning that it "would raise prices at the gas pump for the American people."

Banning Russian imports might also increase pressure to expand domestic energy production. That's a major concern in the environmental community, with progressives worried that the current crisis could force backsliding on climate goals.

Kansas Cat -
I am very interested in the information you have about the Utica and Marcellus shale oil and gas volume? Is the information based upon seismic testing?
Thanks, Willy

I don't know very much about those shale basins but I would say any reserves estimates are based on previous drilling results and known areal extent of the productive area.

The entire region was mapped. Drilling was and is based upon the maps. The volume as we know it is much larger than initially expected. It is a good feeling that our local energy makes the horsepower to run this superpower!

Supposedly congress has a veto proof margin to ban russian oil imports.
