Yesterday morning before work on crapper an feet start get wet , drip bad from under tank on water intake side , flush it, quit, turn off water supply but not get all water out tank when flush, didn't leak gone work , left water supply on an thought maybe a fluke, I have hard water lot lime, I buy drink water , have service guard protection plan look water heater as free next week , set low for 2 yrs as blew out emergency relief valve an plumber say keep low but water so cold , hard take shower an been kinda sponge bath, so let them drain flush tank or look at it , if do anything other replace , so last nite the toilet start leak bad again in nite, not do it until just bfore , I call plumber an now not today but tomma afternoon , I thought maybe something simple I can't see for $65 service call , toilet was overhaul 10 yrs ago , I see Lowes got toilets $89, so if go that route, I never install one but I don't think to hard do , 2 PC, 12 in toilet , anyone know why toilet leak under tank on bottom in corner close water intake ? Crack porcelain or gormet leak or by water intake ? Why not leak all time ? I guess have plumber look at an get estimate on lite switch an half dz outlets replace an shower faucet leak 2 yrs , maybe can fix toilet leak $65, not buy there toilet if say crack porcelain , why would flush it, make it stop leak for hrs ?

where is it leaking from? the tank? the tank to bowl connection ?


flushing it may not make it stop leaking , not sitting on it and putting pressure on the tank may make it stop leaking


put some food coloring in the bowl and if your leak is clear it isn't the bowl or wax ring

if it only leaks when you sit on it , most likely the tank bowl connection

Leak water or flood or come in cellar or.whatwver sucks , I heard broke water pipe can be bad as sometimes follow to cellar from yard , water floor go cellar on wood sucks bad enough , almost decide call in work but went , stay up watch tv late an walk water a few hrs later, no more sleep , come home from work an hundreds gallons water leak would not be cool , the water valve to inlet toilet , slows lot anyhow , not much , could loose few gallons in 5 hrs maybe, better then 50 gallons on floor

I don't know if plumbers carry gormets or how tell where leak is

Get a flashlight and towel.

Get on your knees so you can see bottom of tank good and wipe it dry. Watch for where water comes from.

Did you try to tighten the filler tube nut? Or see if the filler line is cracked?

It is very tight, for yrs, it could be leak there , I feel like fool if bought toilet an leak, plumber don't show up an wait days in past is what hate , not live that water stuff all wkend leak floor, water shutoff slow down all , don't leak all time, 3 times bad in day an half an flush it an stop for long time

keep the water off , fill buckets in the tub and use that to flush and wait for the plumber if you don't feel comfortable working on a toilet.

Dave, you can go to about any hardware store and buy a tank valve replacement kit. The ones I've bought have everything you'll need to put in a new flush/ fill valve and the flapper too. They also can come with the tank grommets too. All you have to do is shut off your water supply to the tank, flush the toilet and soak up the little bit of left over water in the tank (if you want to) and replace your old parts with new. Do it yourself, its easy to do and its a lot cheaper than paying a plumber if you're wanting to save some money.
