Skinned a few beaver that had been peppered with birdshot.
Why do people do that?

Same reason duck hunters used to shotgun otter where I grew up. They don't care, just want them gone because they imagine they might hurt the resource they care about. Or, it is a moving target they want to prove they can hit.

Are they that stupid to think they can kill a beaver or otter with birdshot?

Need I answer that question? People are stupid. And I'm sure that occasionally they do kill one. Probably one in fifty.

Some day I'll figure out how to delete quotes so they don't stack.

I was answering Boco, instead I quoted myself. [headdesk]

Shot a small buck years ago. Nothing to write home about as far as antlers. When I was cutting the back straps out of him,I found a broad head with about 3 inches of arrow lodged against his spine between his shoulder blades. When I skinned him, there was no sign of a wound so it must have been there for awhile. I had seen this deer a few times that fall and didn’t notice anything different in the way he walked and ran.
