So I dug this out of the treasure box Lol. This is the only one I have ever seen and the only reference to it in the 2016 Trap Collectors Guide is on pg. 226, in the bottom paragraph. [Linked Image]

I would appreciate any and all of the information on this trap. Also have a couple more triumphs to post photos of if there is any interest.

I also wanted to add, the dimension inside the jaws at the pivots are 4 7/16. Across the jaws on the outside diamension is 4 11/16 at the dog. The complete jaw width including the jaw face and "clutch" is right around 5/8" .

Hi the best information I can come up with is that the 2XC was made form 1923 to 1928 when it was changed over to the easy-set. These traps are not real common like the 2-x jump which is more common and was made for quite a few more years. I have not found any other variations of this trap.

Garart: Thanks for your post and we hope you will dig out more of your old traps for us to look at. To you and those who have been longer time followers of the collector forum, I am pleased to point out that the answer to gararts question above was posted by the gentleman who wrote the very informative Triumph section of the Andrewski and Parr collector guides and who is recognized as the leading authority on Triumph Traps. I wish to thank him for his first post on trapperman and to encourage him to continue to participate in contributing to discussions on forum questions now that he is retired and has a bit more time available.

I want to welcome triumphnut as well, that is a very well written article in the collector guide. Also thank's for the input on the #2-xc, as I am trying to put a value on it as well as other collector traps I have accumulated over last couple of decades.
Cohunt, I was hopeing you and others as well would chime in. You may remember or PM's about the Oberto's, and I felt you were probably well versed in other collectable brands as well.
My collecting of traps has been sporadic over the years and mainly focused on traps that caught my interest, not so much as to specific trap manufacturers.

Nice trap! Cannot imagine the hours of research used to put the Triumph article together for the Andreski-Parr trap guide.

Well here are a few more. I wasn't sure how to proceed in posting these various triumphs, but I decided coil spring powered traps first. This one is a #1 Kangaroo (coil spring)

This one is a #3 Kangaroo, the chain with swivel is 20" long, ring is 2 7/8" O. D., material is 5/32" thick.

The jaw tips on the two of these traps I have are "pinched flat" (factory). One of these I have had some modifications to the chain set-up, so I still use it occasionally on Beaver (front foot), they both have exceptionally strong springs now (approx. 100 yrs. old)

Last up in this group is the Easyset #2 square grip. The jaws are 5 1/4" inside the jaw posts and 5 1 /2" outside of the jaws at the dog.

Both lever locks are present and function on this trap.

In the coil spring kangaroo in # size 3 and in 4 there are three models the difference is in the jaws. The 1922 model has jaw locks like the jump models, the 1924 model has sheet metal jaws and the the 1926 model the flattened the jaw end like the one you show.

Thank you for that information triumphnut. I have a 1976 reprint of " Trapping Tricks" a trapping guide put out by triumph trap company, inc. ; this is copyrighted 1925. In the guide it shows what they are calling " extra long trunnions" ( jaw tips), they are quite a bit different than mine for sure.
Also in this guide they state that beside going to the base plate center swivel location on #31 and #31-x traps, they also welded the swivel "eye" to prevent opening from "the lunge of a savage wild animal". Pretty colorful language back then. Lol.

I like where this thread is going so, I'll play some. Here is what I believe is the complete 3 jaw collection including a couple open spring Maas (sp?) modified traps that are floating around.

Martinpine, that's a real nice group of three jaws you have. I especially like those two on the bottom, coil over longsprings like the. 2A double longs.

Diggerdale, Mine gave me a pretty good WACK! , when setting it for the pictue.

Martenpine, please identify the traps in your photo from the top down. Looks like a couple odd ones.
