What's the best way to store skunk a sentence for a year or more.? Should you allow it to be frozen? Or is freezing something you want to avoid?

I put the jar of it still closed into a bigger glass jar.

Never had the stuff freeze or break a bottle yet in hot or cold weather I recommend you store it in 4oz glass Boston round jars with metal lids do not bury in dirt that can speed up the cap breakdown. 4 oz BR bottles have many advantages the best way to measure what your selling that way vs a random amount in a big bottle and a guesstimate.

i tried putting the original one ounce glass bottle, which had been dipped in wax to seal top, in a zip lock bag, in a mason jar, outside, in a shady protected area and every now & again it would omit some of its goodness. barometric pressure?

It’s kind of like acetone it’s tough to keep that genie in the bottle often.

For home use I've had the best luck with the GLASS Heinze 57 sauce bottles with the plastic screw caps. If you don't tip the bottle and get essence up on the threads this seals very well. I even left a bottle on the kitchen counter for a couple weeks and wife didn't know it was there.

That said, I like my storage area ( tuck under garage) to smell like some skunk. Keeps people away form your stuff and the smell always puts a little smile on my face.

Skunk essence mellows a lot with time and space and air amount in the bottle. The smaller bottles keeps them fresher longer.

Get some empty paint cans at your hardware store and put the glass bottles of essence inside. Works quite well.

If your storing it for your own use any lid will work but if there is a chance of longer term contact with pure strength quill I’d go steel. The cap liner also comes into play the paper or foil cap liners are my first choice the foam type sealers I’d avoid any contact with the quill.

I also keep mine in the 4 0z Boston bottles and store them in a small non working refrigerator in my unheated shed year round. Once in a while I get a whiff of it's goodness but never had any problems so far.

I put the essence in glass bottles with metal lid, then put that in a plastic coffee "can" filled with Kitty Litter. Then put my trapper business card in that.
