The last receiving date is 10 April 2022. It is 7 April 2022. Decision time. No posted Sold Catalog = bad prices?

Supposedly somebody at FHA reads this stuff. Figure something out.

Could be PT sales are still going on. They will wait until this sale is done - prompt date - and then post the final version of the sold catalog.

I know the timing sucks but what else can you say.

Could always move the last receiving date? It's not like the sale is in May or even early June like they used to be when they had far more fur to sort.

P.S. the Canadians get until 17 April.

I have often seen that the last receiving date was between you and your closest agent.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Canadians get a later receiving date because they don’t have to clear their goods through USF&W and US Customs.

Maybe today is the big day? Looks like 73 days to ship and sort fur for the next auction. Seems to me I used to ship in the beginning of Jan and the sales were in late Feb a few years back. What is that like 50 or so days to get ready for a sale with at least twice the fur.

Obviously these numbers are available, since FHA did a catalog price breakdown on Beaver a week or so ago.

There’s no secret the fur market is in the toilet. Results from this auction don’t guarantee any level of return from the next auction? Sell local for quick return or ship on a gamble, same game on a different day.

Does the sold catalog list all the PT sales? I have never looked at one.

why did you waste your time putting up fur instead of worring when to ship why not wait untill you can make a little money for your time spent heck you have a good chance when the time comes fha will say there wont be a sale maybe groony will take their left overs free instead of giving them 50 cents for them like the past

After the prompt date at some point FHA will release the sold catalogue. It lists all the lots and price if it sold.

Speaking of the FH sold catalog, is there a quick and easy way to find a certain species without scrolling through hundreds of pages?? If so, would some one please share. Thanks

I’d settle for alphabetic order.

For Joe1 and NWS, LLC. For Joe my trapping this year was side product of my new job that puts me in the same forest. Just some time invested. Income is assured at record low prices. Marten are not selling for record low prices this year. Sometimes I am looking for the price break. If I am looking to make $50 per pelt, ( as an example for whatever species.) I'll cherry pick the size and quality and color that brings that money. The rest will make a trip to a tannery. Once tanned, lots of options and time is not a big deal.

Can you get burned shipping? Yep. This is how I try not to get burned.

putting up fur if you have a use for it or a good market is good catching it to see how many you can catch thinking your impressing others then put it on a poor market hasnt worked for a long time now how often you hear some one say i did it for nesting birds or help the numbers out for one reason or another and then say i put them up for my own use or im holding them for better times its more like im not running a freezer all year so i will take what i can get a shortage like wheat and eggs would be good

Some fur is not worth pursuing in big numbers, but beaver have long been a species that a northern trapper can make money on with the price of castor being so strong for so long, and the larger sizes bringing a decent return. At the last auction marten is starting to come up nicely.
I will put more effort into marten next winter for sure if the prices I got at the last FHA sale hold or continue to rise.

Load the catalogue and then use "control F" to bring up a search bar. You can type in the species your looking for or if you know the lot # type that in, it might pull up a couple different species but you can just click the arrows and scroll through till you find the one your looking for. Unfortunately there's no way to narrow it down to a grade with the search function.
