Ouch. I may grow a half acre and hand pick it just to raise a couple pigs.

I am going to do a price increase on most of what I sell. I did the calculations back in January and found that my average weekly expenditure on just, feed, food, electric, auto insurance and fuel was $1574.80 a week. It's higher now. I am taking in more than ever on the farm and spending most of it. Money is fast becoming worth less.

We don't need free range hogs here.

If they agree to leave my trees and garden alone plus stick close by the farm I'll agree to let them free range.

Run you are paying almost $1.00 more for a bu. of corn but 50 cents less for beans. You must be in a real corn deficit region.
I bet those huge poultry and pork farms are glad they booked their feed last year. If they did not margins will dwindle. Eggs have doubled here in price in two weeks.

I think the roadside eggs are reasonably priced here in Virginia. $2.50 / dozen. Probably going to change soon.

Sold corn this past Monday for 8.13 , July delivery .60 basis. We’re corn deficit , with abundance of poultry. Contracted with Tyson Foods . Have about 10,000 bu left to price of old crop. Tomorrow’s report will be interesting.

The eastern shore normally has the highest corn prices generally speaking in my limited experience.

I filled my bin in December it MIGHT be enough to get me to the new crop if I am very lucky. I paid 5.35 at that time if I remember correctly.

The majority of the last 4-6 years the harvest or fall price has been higher or highest which means the market wants the farmers to sell and not store as they can not cover storage costs. This is reverse of decades of price trends. We have two years of adequate to short corn supplies and carryover is likely to be less then 1 billion bushels. If we have even an average year don't look for fall new crop prices to be good deals. Right now with roughly 91-92 million acres projected to be planted to corn, there will need to be a near 180 bu. national average yield to get us up to 1.5 billion carryover or so. That is not out of the question when we think of the fact that 2-3 million of the lower producing corn acres are not planted to corn. Delayed plantings could curb yields. If the drought continues in the western corn belt and it stays drier than normal in the eastern or central corn belt then supplies could get short. If they pass the E-15 then corn will really get expensive.
