Landowner option makes me no difference their call, if I’m not sure I pass on all of them. Had some guys say it’s a go only to get a call from the wife who had other plans. LOL. I’m not getting in the middle of that no way. There was a guy who had asked me to thin out the coon on his land. He asked me to make sure I did not go past a certain point up the drive. I found out why when his wife happened to see me. Later, after I had pulled everything, I told him what I thought of his wife, quite descriptively. He already knew.

Our area is full of small farms and they all have cats. You see a lot of sign of them in the woods when I am out there.

Cats have their place , it's in the house , and not outside . Farms have cats to keep rodents down , LOL yeah , there seemed to be more mice than before . Dairy farms feed them milk , and they just wait until there's more milk . Some would hunt a little , but the mice population never went down . That's one good thing about coyotes , the cat population goes down .

We have two house cats that started out feral. Old woman across the street became a widow and started feeding them. She also had coons skunks possums and fox that were pretty tame. Had heating pads ans stuff for them in her garage in the winter. She died and the old man next door to her started feeding the cats. My grandsons trapped coons fox skunks and possum that winter. Then the old man died. Two half dead kittens were on my porch. Scrawny and almost blind from distemper. Told my wife dont feed them. Came home from work and they were in the house. Vet bill that day was 200 bucks. I didnt ask about subsequent bills. They are both neutered. They wander off for an hour or two and bring home pack rats moles and occasionally birds. Catch mice too. I dont mind I like to hunt. Pretty sure that stuff is as healthy as the cat food they get. Except for those two my wife took in I took care of the rest of them. Took a couple weeks to get them all. I left them alone cause they kept an old woman then an old man from being quite so lonely but when they were gone the cats had to go too.

Some people take better care of a snotty eyed cat, then they do themselves. I think cats that are left to run loose, eat far too many song birds.

The answer in life is usually both. Cats have both their good and bad points. There are very good reasons people have kept cats in and around their homes and farms for over 9500 years. Small numbers of cats are useful in keeping vermin down. Large numbers of cats are a plague in themselves. I don't intend to ever live without are least a couple of cats in the house and a few on the farm. Cats save me money on feed for my other animals, lower rodent damage to my property, keep birds from making huge messes in my barns and lower the risk of wild birds introducing disease to my domestic, caged birds.
I love dogs, but my favorite 2 pets right now are both cats. The hardest I laughed last year was when a large moth got in the house and was flying around, bouncing off my living room ceiling. Rambow, my favorite cat, a gray tiger stripe, ran over to me and hopped into my lap, put his paws on my chest and looked up and loudly meowed. I held him over my head and we chased the moth all over my living room with Rambow furiously batting at it.
When I'm sitting, Rambow frequently comes over, stretches up and places one and then a second paw on my stomach. I pick him up, turn him over, rub his head, neck, shoulders and back vigorously and then let him slide head first to the floor, through my hands, with light pressure to keep him from going down to fast. Rambow then turns around and looks up at me. I ask him "More?" and he makes a noise that sounds like "more". He then stands up, puts one paw on my stomach and then another and we do it all again, usually 5 or 6 times.
Rambow will eat anything I am eating. He will even eat pickles, olives, jalapeño peppers, banana peppers and citrus fruits.

I wish the cats loose would be more in neighborhood an get after some sparrows in carport , aweful mess an on pickup an droppings at times cover defrost vent , but not to cat friendly area in town , I think they live in storm sewers at times, probly lot perish in winter or drought, I try feed them but to scared an don't happen, there were some real big neighbor cats that huge an go in trees, an fun watch, I wouldn't let th near my cats as kill them, I look for cat a few yrs ago at humane society an want young grey one, the cat name was kobey, he came up an want pet an for no reason at all after pet a few times, he bit hard an jump on 2 workers an scratch up arms bad, they bleed, so kobey went has work cat to be sold not a house cat, outdoor cat for someone has bldg outdoors, lucky didn't get him as would got my other cats, he fool me, all cats are different none are same personality

I remember correctly, there was a post on here years ago from a fella that lived next to a person that was feeding a lot of feral cats. He put two live traps in the back of his pick up truck every night with the tailgate closed and was catching them and then just driving past the neighbors house and waving every day with two cats in the back of the truck headed to their final destination. I think he said he took out 40 or 50. LMAO
