Don't feel bad just keep asking lol. Coon's are easy to attract they like all kinds of fishy smells, sweet's of all kinds. It sort of depends on what traps and location's, dryland vs water sets? I've heard of people using dry cat food and adding fish oil and molasses. If you start with a Fish base you cant go wrong!!!!

Jack Mac and cat food mixed is a good choice. Works well in dog proofs. Corn mixed with molasses or vanilla extract. Marshmallows . When I water trapped as a teenager I would nail a piece of shiner to the tree about an inch above the water.

Anything sweet as mentioned above. I use maple syrup made at the end of the maple season. I refuse to sell it. Piece of fish in a pocket, dribble syrup to and on the fish. Trap in water. No skunks, opposum. Our skunk have like value.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Dollar stores are good to go to for coon bait. That's where I go.

Coons are easy and can be caught on just about anything. Don't overlook dry cat food. For a good call lure, takes some honey, mix it with glycerin to get the consistency you want this will make a good base....then add a bit of anise, vanilla or cherry and you will have a lure that will work as well as anything you can buy. Personally, I like anise as a lure base as it is very loud, extremely attractive to coon and is easy to get at your grocery store. A home-made fish oil or just tainted fish works well as a bait as does rotten eggs. Also, a good Thai Fish Sauce smells better and is stronger than 90% of the fish oils on the market. Location is far more important than the bait you use.

I haven’t made any in quite a while but I used to do really well with a paste bait made from peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and anise. Ingredients listed in order by quantity. This wouldn’t be my choice in dog proofs, but works very well in wooded areas as a smear type bait.

Mix the jack Mac with plain dry oatmeal. It sucks up all the water and you get alot more sets per can for cheap.

cast net shad. grind whole and fresh, and then freeze it till you need it. around here i can fill a five gallon bucket pretty quick in august

i dont see coon market improving enough i will need 5 gallons of bait. if im going to run a dozen dp's i put about a cup of dry cat food in a Tupperware bowl. add a tablespoon of spoon bill oil. shake it up good.

Jack mack is a cooked material that comes in a salt brine. It’s cooked in the can so some oil comes out. Take a fork to the can contents and you’ll have a decent bait. Add a couple drops of cherry oil* and a couple drops* of anise and the odor will be more persistent.

* per can of Jack mack.

Note. Jack mack today is about $3.50 a can. 8 cans (15 oz) is just shy of a gallon. Mix it up now and freeze in clean peanut butter jars or just before season and you should have enough to get you thru the end of the year.

Bone marrow for the base a dash of sun rendered blue fin tuna oil, ketchup from the packets you get from McDonald's and a touch of bitter almond oil to sweeten and to carry. Mix in that order or it will turn into an unusable rubbery glob
