I have a plan long term. Short term we are just struggling to get by. I knew we would when I took my current job. It’s a government gig, so I have amazing benefits and retirement package, and lots of time off to be with my family, with the caveat that for the first couple of years the pay will suck. Once I’ve paid my dues I’ll make decent money, and in another six months they’ll pay for me to get a degree in whatever I choose. I could go to work for a mine, make lots of money, but I would have to sacrifice the benefits, good schedule and the time with the family. The wife works for my mom in her quilt shop and is halfway to getting her bachelors degree in early childhood education.
We have many plans, all of which take money, so they’re all on hold till the wife and I get our careers up to speed, and that’s just gonna take time. Eventually we will make good money and both have good benefits

For those with long term plans…don’t have kids, or adopt, or have kids that have kids, or even move next to someone with kids. I’ll speak from 100% honesty, I wouldn’t change a thing about my life. Is it going the way I planned? Heck no, it’s changed directions more than my granddaughter goes through diapers. At 46 with one crumb snatcher already out of the house and the other two in high school (Senior and Sophomore) my wife brings home a 5 day old baby. I had plans and that was not remotely close to what it involved, lol. Now 7 years later, 8 in October, I have a son with my last name and loved like he’s my own blood. This wasn’t in the “plan” I had years ago, but I’m glad plans “change” whether we want them to or not. Go with the flow, be versatile, adapt, overcome.
Now if this post was about money, save all you can while you’re young, but in the process…DON’T FORGET TO LIVE!! Take a trip, go on a cruise, buy once cry once on some purchases. I won’t say live like there’s no tomorrow, but live like you can’t wait until tomorrow.

In my opinion, the best plan is to be far away from a city, have a piece of dirt to grow food, a place to hunt, fish, cut firewood. Life isn't supposed to be easy and a heap of folks are about to find out it isn't.

Yep, I'm going to get rich with my bees. Ok maybe not but hopefully I about have this stuff figured out a bit better and maybe they will start generating income instead of being an expense costing hobby. If I can get 6 to ten things like that working finally I would only be going to work fror insurance. So bee keeping is like trapping…an expensive hobby!!

If I can get 6 to ten things like that working finally I would only be going to work fror insurance. So bee keeping is like trapping…an expensive hobby!! The learning curve can be steep. There is a lot to it and I keep buying more hives and expanding more. It has the potential to make a nice return once I get the education part down. The equipment will last years, I catch and split my hives. So only bees I have bought were some queens. I guess it's like trapping. Sure I only need a few dozen traps for the little I trap but...... After you get past the start up cost the expense will be low. I just keep getting more hives. Hit my self imposed limit on number of hives I was going to get untill I get it more down pact. Then I started two more nuks when I found some queen cells. So I may have 2 more hives than I wanted . Got another swarm trap getting some action as well. I will be giving a friend some more bees this year it seems.
